Jim's Take on Great Players in Duke Games

If you're not reading the front page (tsk!) Jim is doing a fun series, "Duke’s Track Record Against Some Of The Very Best Players In College Basketball History".

For the purpose of this series I’m defining great players as anyone who won a recognized national player of the year award. It’s an inexact science to be sure but I’ve got to draw the line somewhere and this seems as good a place as any.

Some great memories, some good results and some not so good results. Jim of course did a wonderful job of describing these games. Duke's success against; Shack, The Admiral, Larry Johnson and Purdue's Glen Robinson are fond memories for me. I had forgotten how well Jay Buckley played in the Michigan rematch game(25 pts & 14 rebounds). That Michigan team was a very good team with Russell and Buntin but Duke had it's stars as well. If I remember correctly, Russell was a good rebounding guard. Sort of like Art Heyman for Duke.
