Oh, hell, there's a crayon cologne.

My wife, back before she'd made the mistake, used a vanilla-scented shampoo that smelled like some sweet pudding dessert to me. On more than one occasion, I wanted to put a big goop in my palm and just lick it.

I can co-sign the play dough smell. For many years growing up, the smell of rain on dirt activated my salivary glands for some reason.

I honestly can't remember the last time I had one. Is it that they've gotten smaller, or we've gotten bigger???

They are definitely smaller. Like everything else in the grocery store.

Considering how perfect this was when we bought it, it makes me cringe when I see it now in this condition.

Back in the 80s I think my stepbros had some Jhirmack shampoo that smelled like that. Anyone else recall Jhirmack?

BTW, how has no one mentioned Elmer Sglue, the paste-eating villain from the Powerpuff Girls (and Pokey Oaks Elementary)?

Have to admit to never eating crayons or glue. One time when I was in a high school science class, though, the teacher was passing around a sampler of various essential oils or something like that. One of them was wintergreen. It smelled SOOOO amazing! I just had to put some in my mouth (it TASTED amazing, too, by the way). Anyway, after I had passed the samples along, she makes an announcement: "Oh, by the way, don't taste the samples; the wintergreen is a TOXIC POISON!" I'm like, gee, thanks for telling me that, lady. Nothing ever came of it, although some of you who have read my posts over the years probably feel otherwise.

The Crayon perfume thing is intriguing, though.

Growing up as the son of a surgeon in the 1970's, my father used to bring us home bottles of mercury. We had so much fun playing with that shiny silver liquid that you could control in little patterns and didn't make your fingers wet. Little did we know at the time.

We played with mercury from broken thermometers. I think as long as it isn't aerosolized you're OK. Either that or I have brain damage from mercury poisoning.

I played with it, too. My dad called it "quicksilver." It was fascinating, the way it acted when touched.

I know that Newton, when he was really into alchemy, was playing with it for hours at a time. It took a toll, though, as he went bonkers/cuckoo-for-cocoa puffs after a while.

I’m waiting for the “Crayola Flavors” category. Conducted extensive research on that one.

One of the joys of grandchildren is revisiting the toys of our own youth as well as modern updates. I'm now two years into the fun with grandchildren and the Crayola product line is my favorite. One new product is crayons designed for whiteboards. A 24"x36" whiteboard on the floor leaned against the wall and a toddler with crayons is a lot of fun.

Even better are Crayola washable crayons. They look, smell, and color just like regular crayons. I can't tell the difference, except when cleaning up after errant scribbles (a damp towel and it comes right off!). About a year ago, the grandchild peeled all the paper off the 8 jumbo-size crayons. And then promptly began sucking on them, because that's what kids do at a year old. It became clearly evident that they are very water soluble. Just don't take your eyes off the child for too long. Sucking on the red crayon gives quite the frightening drool when you look over from whatever took your attention away from baby for 15 seconds to see bright red liquid around his mouth!

Maybe they should merge with Baskin Robbins. I'd enjoy reading the PR Newswire on that one, talking about synergies and so forth.

Don't give them any ideas. Ben and Jerry's has collaborated with New Belgium Brewing a couple times in the past to produce a couple pretty forgettable flavors like Salted Caramel Brownie Ale and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Beer.

(can move to Ymm, Beer if more appropriate )

Tried this Ben and Jerry's flavor the other day, potato chips in ice cream is odd but not altogether bad...decent salt/sweet thing.https://www.benjerry.com/flavors/chip-happens-ice-cream

The dog gave it 4.5 stars in her cleanup role. Snout is brown now.
