Oscar Wilde went on a long absinthe bender in Paris. He was staying at a hotel on the Left Bank (St. Germain-des-Pres area). His reported last words before he died, as he looked around the room:

“The wallpaper and I are in a life and death struggle. One of us must go.”

(To abscond with and alter a line from Rick James: “absinthe is a hell of a drug.” The absinthe you get today is NOT the absinthe of old, which is illegal about everywhere AFAIK).

Not a National Food Day but, in Raleigh, folks have been having various drive-by/drive-through NC State Fair Foods Days in the last few weeks.

how many deep fryers do they have their disposal? Why not set up a cardiology booth for some of the rebound effects? (e.g. deep fried cheeseburger plus a catheterization for one really low price)

I hadn't even thought about the fair. That's a tough blow to all the people/businesses involved.

I received an email from a client this morning wishing us a happy National Tequila Day. From reading this thread, seems like she is a few day late. Or maybe she is having one hell of a bender.

National Tequila Day was July 24. I apologize for not bringing it to everyone's attention. Thank you for correcting my oversight . I'll try to be more timely.

I also overlooked National Hot Fudge Sundae Day on July 25. Very sorry to have missed this one.

(Edit: Ooops, a brief review of the thread reminds me a couple other posters reported this already. Carry on!)

    Ooh, today is:

    National Crème Brûlée Day

(I guess that could be cross-posted in Ymm, Beer to honor Southern Tier's liquid version.)
