Very sorry to hear, -jk. Prayers for all.
A close friend of mine has leukemia and will need a blood stem cell donation to survive. Right now, she's in chemo and they're about to start a search for a match. She's scared. I am, too.
I'm too old to register, though - they only want donors 40 and under. But if you're able, can you add yourself to the registry? All it takes is a cheek swab. If you ever match, you can decide then whether to donate or not.
Please sign up to be a donor. Or encourage your younger friends to sign up. Show the world what you're made of! (Or at least show the registry.)

It may not be my friend's life you save, but you can save someone's friend.
thanks,

This is terrible.
Thanks. It really is terrible. We first met when her then 3 1/2 year old entered our son’s coop preschool. The kids have been best friends ever since. We have, too.
Her son was adopted from Ukraine. It was the cutest thing - pushing him on the swing while he demanded “Push high as sky! High as sky!” in his very limited English. He’s a frosh this year, and couldn’t spend any meaningful time at home over winter break due to her immune system being crap.

So sorry to hear this, John. Just signed up for the donor registry.
I almost matched with someone a few years ago(Be The Match sent a note) after being on the list for nearly two decades. I was nervous and excited at the potential opportunity but in the end they went another route for treatment.
there are a lot of good developments on the leukemia front...I keep track because I've had a non-nasty version (so far) for the last 15 years. The only advice I can give anyone who is diagnosed is get to a major, experienced teaching hospital, or cancer specialty hospital...they have access to a lot more new drugs and a lot more experience dealing with the many varieties...(I opt for Dana Farber in Boston, quite the place).
Very sorry to hear the terrible news!
I’m a stockholder in a company which has invested substantial money in CAR T-cell trial drugs. It might be an answer to certain types of leukemia.

Not sure if this is the drug you mean but potentially a hopeful breakthrough:
