    Ambient Music

I've been listening to a lot of ambient music when I work. Here's a classic of the genre by Brian Eno: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNwYtllyt3Q
I'm not sure it's music, but I find it very relaxing and conducive to thought work.

    Crooked Coast

These guys have had several songs play on the Tony Kornheiser Show (podcast), but the most recent one, Outlaws, really caught my attention. If only Morricone had lived to hear it! What's especially neat is that they filmed the video on a barge in the water - so during Covid times, boaters (each of which presumably constitutes their own bubble) could gather round outside and enjoy the music. The audio of the performance sounds like a studio overdub - and it didn't appear to be perfectly synced with the performance. But they probably did perform, and it's a clever solution to performing for a live audience while providing for social distancing, too.

Not only is it music, it’s long-established:

Or at least, it has old roots.

Beautiful stuff, but, pardoning my ignorance, what's the connection to Music for Airports?

It reminds me of ambient music, but without instruments. Tonal and soothing, repetitive but not looping.

I may be the only one that sees a connection though, and if so I’ll own it.

I also find this to be related, but again it may just be my loosely-organized synapses:

(i will be the first to admit that I often make unusual associations in my noggin — it’s a blessing and a curse. I could also load up on a ton of Windham Hill, or Jean Michel Jarre).

Or, speaking of airplanes and certainly not classic rock:

Although she was a famous rock star’s partner for years until he passed away if anyone knows.

I’ve listened to similar stuff for a long time. Ray Lynch is a personal favorite, although he qualifies more as “New Age” than ambient.

ETA: Hey, I FINALLY got a video embed to work!!

I have a question, not sure if it belongs here or in the firearm thread, but can I take my gun [up] to heaven? You know, she's always been by my side.

I'll check it with St. Peter out at the gate.

I bet you have a bad case of the Lonesome Johnny Blues.

(I'm more of a CvB guy just because it was out when I was in college, although I do get Low -- er, down -- with Cracker).

Take the hands off the clock, we’re going to be here
    Awhile.

One of my favorite lines in a song ever — but very pre-digital.

I am also a huge fan of Camper Van Beethoven. I like Cracker, too, but not quite as much.
