Every school’s situation is different, but if football gives an institution a Title IX problem, women’s lax and women’s crew are popular solutions—and if you’re relying on women’s lax to bring you into balance, adding men’s lax can be problematic.

You can binge-watch to your heart’s content this weekend. Noon to midnight Saturday and Sunday on ESPNU, and noon to midnight Sunday on ACCN.

Something weird, though. Three of the four championship games in which Duke participated will be shown, but not the 2013 win over Cuse. Wonder why ...

Here we go again: every time the rules committee meets, we get changes to the faceoff rules.

I wish they’d just let them scrap it out on the face off, used to be a lot of fun.

This is more interesting in that article:

Additionally, sources are telling IL that a change will be made to the dive rule. Now, a goal will be disallowed if a player that lands in the goal-mouth area, regardless of whether he is pushed.

How many coaches are going to start having their D push shooters into the crease? This is a bad change.

These faceoff changes are asisine. I could see a lot of ankles and knees buckle for the worse with these changes. Also, agree that the dive rule change is similarly just really bad.

What is the motivation for this change to faceoffs? It seems like a fairly major change, not just a tweak.

My guess, and it’s just a guess, is that the committee wants to get away from a situation where one recruit—a Brendan Fowler or Trevor Baptiste or TD Ierlan—skews the competitive balance of all of D1.

I like the change to the dive rule. It takes pressure off the officials to make two calls that were impossible to make consistently. Now, it’s a bright-line rule: land in the crease, no goal, and as before, a push from behind with possession is a 30-second penalty. The push may be a rational choice for a defender who gets beat along GLE (Goal-line extended), but we’ll have to see how it evolves. Most of those pushes from behind could just as easily be called crosse-checks, a one-minute penalty, so the offocials have a way to change the incentive structure if necessary.

No question about the value of the value of an exceptional face off man. But if the committee wishes to devalue such players perhaps it would be better to do away with face offs, and turn to football and basketball examples of turning the ball over after each score. Also, perhaps, paying all college coaches the same salary (yes athletic administrators -- worry), limiting the number of 3, 4, and 5 star players to be signed each year, etc

I kind of like this idea! This would be really interesting in the sense that the clearing and ride game could become infinitely more important. I wonder if you'd see coaches be more aggressive in the riding game, or if they'd just cede possession and focus more on half-field defense.

Not sure how this was finagled, but Cornell’s uber-attackman Jeff Teat got a waiver from the Ivy League and will be back with the Red in 2021.

Maybe he is in the Ag school at Cornell, which is actually part of SUNY and thus not considered "Ivy League".

The same article also says that Philip Robertson will be joining Michael Sowers on the Princeton-to- Durham migration. Assuming no injuries or changes of heart, that gives Duke unprecedented depth of quality attackmen. A nice problem to have.

I have no idea how Coach John is managing his scholarships, but this is really amazing...now we need to have an actual season

Sad to see C.J. leave, but he would have been the odd man out if he had stayed, and he gets to play for Coach Pressler.

    Best of luck to him.

Nice article in IL on Dyson, the Danowski-like dynamic between father and son (Shawn Williams is one of the all-time greats in the indoor game), and how he honors the older brother who was lost to cancer a few years ago.
