Coach Carl Tacy, of Wake Forest and other schools, has died. Third winningest MBB coach at Wake Forest.
A movie is not about what it's about; it's about how it's about it.

There's a man who's forgotten Gene Keady...

Carl Tacy was the Deacs coach when I matriculated through Duke.
That was the Rod Griffin, Frank Johnson, Leroy McDonald and Larry Harrison team that made us work hard for the 1978 ACC Tournament title.
Rest in Peace to a good man.
This is a story, I believe, from Feinstein's Forever's Team. Kenny Dennard went to HS at Stokes just outside of Winston-Salem. He was a natural recruiting target for Tacy and Wake Forest. But Tacy was a quiet guy. Dennard related that when the phone rang and there was quiet on the other end, he'd just ask, "Coach Tacy?" Not a problem with Duke's Bill Foster.

'When I got on the bus for my first road game at Duke, I saw that every player was carrying textbooks or laptops. I coached in the SEC for 25 years, and I had never seen that before, not even once.' - David Cutcliffe to Duke alumni in Washington, DC, June 2013
Rodney(Rod) Griffin was a 3 time all acc player at Wake Forest. He was ACC POY in 1977 and in 1978 he led the conference in scoring and rebounding. At 6'7" he was a powerful force for the Deacs. He was drafted 17th by the Denver Nuggets. Rod was paralyzed in a ATV accident which I believe cut his NBA career short. He was one of the best Wake Forest basketball players of all time.

Forget this post. I was thinking of Rodney Rogers. I don't know much about Rodney Griffin.

Are you thinking of Rodney Rogers?
No worries. Getting old's a bummer.
