Also Hallelujah!!
Pushed my Ocracoke trip (from last October, post hurricane, to this May) to this coming October. If that doesn't work, I'm inclined to give up.
Just a lament for my rising HS senior daughter. She found out about NC Governor's School from her smart friends, but was too chicken to apply. My wife and spent a couple weeks talking her into it. She finally got the nerve up to apply and eventually was really sweating her application. She got in, and was all psyched up to go. Needless to say, it's cancelled. She gets a certificate of acceptance for her resume, but otherwise it's a very cool experience lost. Ah, well.
Very, very sad and distraught to report that I will not be able to see and interact with John Prine at his 2nd Annual All the Best Festival in the Dominican Republic this coming November. 😭

One of my favorites, Todd Snider, recently did a set of Prine songs. Todd was on Oh Boy! records for awhile and toured opening for Prine.

I would post a video or two of me playing Prine songs if I knew how. He’s been one of my favorite covers for decades.
Such great songs.
This is really starting to suck and we're only a couple of months in. Already missed a couple concerts, a family Disney vacation and a week long backpacking trip on the Appalachian trail. Then while doing one a the few activities I could still do, mountain biking, I had an accident and tore the ligaments in my elbow. I'm probably 3 months minimum from even thinking about getting on the bike again.
My son has missed spring little league season and several camps this summer have already been cancelled.
I bought my Dad tickets for him, myself and my son to go to Atlanta to see the Braves as a retirement present and that's probably going to be out as well. I'm genuinely starting to feel somewhat depressed I think. Trying to look on the bright side. I'm in good health other than my injury and my family is as well. I've got a great job that hasn't been affected by things so it could be much much worse.
Sorry to hear about your cancellations and your elbow injury. Sometimes it is really true that when it rains, it pours. I hope you heal up quickly.
My oldest son (age 25) got word out of the blue this morning that his whole department has been dissolved and their 100 employees laid off effective immediately. He was doing student loan processing, and had been there almost a year and really enjoying his first true “professional” experience. Gut-punch.
"Amazing what a minute can do."
"We are not provided with wisdom, we must discover it for ourselves, after a journey through the wilderness which no one else can take for us, an effort which no one can spare us, for our wisdom is the point of view from which we come at last to regard the world." --M. Proust
