    Duke v Kentucky

Daughter, granddaughter and friends are driving north from Florida to Maryland and want to stop for BBQ somewhere close to I95. Wilson, Lumberton, or Fayetteville maybe?

Smithfield's Chicken and BBQ in Lumberton, about exit 20. Friend from church is the owner. Ask for Cliff.

Can't recall which joints are still open in Rocky Mount and Wilson but Parker's and Bill's come to mind.

The two towns are far enough apart, they could probably eat twice in the state.

Thanks. Delivered your message. Gymnastics team is traveling north after a winning meet in Orlando over the weekend.

Oh, good. BBQ before a gymnastics meet is probably a bad idea and would create a different sort of emergency than the one in the thread title.

Parkers in Wilson is worth consideration.

There is a school of thought that no great barbeque place is open on Monday or Tuesday.

Whatever happened to the Duke vs. Kentucky thread on the EK Board? Couldn't find it.

13 hour drive each way to gymnastics meet.
    Wouldn't you want some Cue?

    Here's an old one:

    https://forums.dukebasketballreport...-BBQ-Emergency!

    Here's another:

    And another:

I thought we had yet another Duke vs Kentucky thread that was a bit more modern. Some mod's gonna have to consolidate and *sticky* all these.

It’s the opposite of having a barbecue emergency.

Latest entry is 2013. Clearly, a DBR tradition has faded.

The team ate at Parker's in Wilson and sent me pictures -- looks really good!

Never go wrong with a recommendation from fuse, unless it's, umm, err, never mind.

Now, as for that devildeac character...

    Glad they were well fed/satisfied.

Yep. All had the lunch special for $6.77 with chopped pork BBQ, slaw, mac and cheese and green beans.

Great price for a balanced meal. Washed down with some sweet tea, I hope.

    Watching carolina Go To HELL!
A day late but not a dollar short. On the way south stop in Smithfield, NC. Get off at exit 97, go west 1/4 mile and turn left (south) on 301/ Brightleaf Blvd. in the next 7 miles you’ll pass Smithfield’s on the left, Abrams on the left, White Swan on the right and then Holts Lake BBQ on the right. Another 1/2 mile south and you turn right on 95 south (exit 90).

For future reference if you’re heading north, reverse the order and sides you of the road. Holts Lake is closed on Mondays. The others are open.
    Ozzie, your paradigm of optimism!
