I didn’t expect UNC to go nuclear on themselves. Now they are all but officially in “gotta win the ACC tourney” status. And in real danger of finishing below .500 for the first time in Roy’s career. Glorious.

UVa beats ND 50-49 in OT in Charlottesville.

    UVa improves to 16-7, 8-5.

    ND falls to 15-9, 6-7.

ND missed the three by an inch.

Yep nearly had it. ND finished 6-26 from 3 and managed 49 points in 45 minutes. Just one less point than UVa’s 50 points in 45 minutes.

So ND won OT with a score of 3-2. That was thrilling to watch.

    Roy’s presser. Nearly NSFW. Enjoy.

We joke a lot about "first one to 40 or 50 wins." UVa outscored ND in (what appeared to be a regulation 5 minute) OT, 3-2. No typo. That appears to be alarmingly bad basketball.

Three tough games coming up. If they get Robinson back- they will be better - but it is looking tough for UNC to right the ship. Of course they will beat State- that is a given.

It was an ugly game. The teams combined for 39-112 shooting including a combined 11-46 from 3.

ND finished 3-7 from the line and UVa 7-11. UVa air balled a free throw in OT too.

If the CHeats are going to go all in on winning the ACCT as their only hope, then arguably they would be better off as the #12 or #13 seed rather than the #10 or #11. My reasoning is this puts them in the top half of the bracket, where their projected path would go through the #4 and #1 rather than the #2 and #3. If you presume that the top three teams (Louisville, Duke, FSU) are all in a group by themselves, then you’d much rather only face one of them.

Not that any of this matters of course.

Someone should tell Ol Roy that tanking is not applicable in college hoops.

Or we can wait a few more weeks before we tell him ...
