Though their ships are often registered in other countries, and many on-ship employees are not American, they do employ Americans and impact our economy.

Not advocating for any action, but just putting some facts out there.
Carnival’s chairman is Mickey Arison. His son Nick was a manager for the Duke basketball team and is now CEO of the Heat. I remember Shane having a funny quote about the guy who used to wipe up his sweat now signing his paychecks.

My kids have also had several babysitters who were actresses on Disney cruises.

There are countless people and industries that will be hit hard financially by this. There will be a lot of tough decisions to make about resource allocation. Obama has to make big decisions during his first days in office. Some agreed, others didn’t. That recession might be trivial compared to the medical and financial challenges we could be facing now.

Here is a helpful article on the value of social distancing. It compares and contrasts the citywide response to the Spanish Flu in 1918 in two cities... Philadelphia, where they held the now infamous World War I parade, and St. Louis, where they implemented aggressive social distancing measures very early in the outbreak. I had not seen this before but it appears to be strong evidence of the value of what the U.S. is slowly beginning to do.

What about US citizens who are currently in Europe?

I take it to mean they are stuck right where they are. Big, big deal! I have to admit I did not see that coming.

Can they just go to the UK and then fly back to the US from there?

Or fly to Canada and then fly (or drive) back to the US?

Pretty sure he said that Americans can return but will be tested, and must self-quarantine upon return.

There are 430 active cases in the UK right now per Johns Hopkins’ site, so not sure why it would be exempted.

I missed that if he said it. I caught the part about people going through the correct screenings and such can come back. But he wasn’t clear what that would entail.

The Thunder/Jazz game was postponed just before tipoff. The Athletic reports that Rudy Gobert (out due to illness) has tested positive for COVID-19.

Emmanuel Mudiay was also listed as out due to illness; his status is unclear.

I immediately wondered why the UK was exempt when I saw that.

    Paging rsvdevil...?

I figure all of this cancel stuff might be scary, but in the end it’s a GOOD thing... keep it more contained.
