I believe it is common knowledge around here but seeing as there are always new posters joining our community I will remind everyone I served 30 years in the Navy 1977 - 2007.

I will forever be a Sailor. Go NAVY!

Seems to me Army/Navy get the "extra two weeks of practice" that Cut and other coaches want so badly out of bowl games....(and now they go to bowls too sometimes...)

I served what SEEMED like 30 years in the Navy 1969-1975. But yes, I’m still a sailor too. As was my father.

Congrats Navy! And a salute to Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Proud of all of you.

    Go navy!!!

My Dad and his Dad graduated from Annapolis!! My Dad was navigator on a destroyer for a while, retired after 20. My granddad was CO on a support carrier during WW II in the South Pacific (Coral Sea and another) and retired Rear Admiral, buried up in Arlington, received the Navy Cross. I grew up on Navy bases my first 12 years.
Never served, wish now I had done something, but...

Your grandfather was CO of USS Cowpens CVL 25 during the Battle of the Philippine Sea in 1943. This battle is nicknamed the Great Mariannas Turkey Shoot.

He was CO of a smaller CVE earlier in the war.
