"We are not provided with wisdom, we must discover it for ourselves, after a journey through the wilderness which no one else can take for us, an effort which no one can spare us, for our wisdom is the point of view from which we come at last to regard the world." --M. Proust
FWIW:
Jim Rome loves Baker. He loves that Baker lit Daniel up. He is clear that it was Baker who brought up the subject of Daniel Jones, NOT the GQ reporter. He also doesn't buy the out of context stuff. Just sayin...this from a Baker fan boy, by his own admission:

You probably won't like finding out that Jim Rome is probably the highest paid sports commentator/broadcaster/etc in the country. He has equity positions I think with his advertisers, etc. Supposedly makes 30 mill a year - this from one of those articles about "the highest paid sportscasters" etc, FWIW. (as a side note, Colin Cowherd left ESPN because he too wanted equity in his shows.).
All that said, Rome's comments about Mayfield, Jones, and Mayfield on Jones, have not aged well.
Uh, I don't believe I ever indicated that highest paid does equal best. I am pretty sure I was agnostic on that point. I was simply surprised to hear it, and I heard it in the same week I heard why Cowherd left ESPN, which was a related topic, which I found interesting.
