Discuss the conference opener here. This is game one in the contest for the Coastal Division Championship. ESPN Football Power Index gives Duke a 52.8 percent chance for victory. Duke has been a solid road team under Coach Cutcliffe so they need to travel to Blacksburg and get the job done.

Normally, nothing comes remotely close on my football wish list to a win over uNC, but this year, even though that is still #1, the VT and UVA games come very close to it. And add in Notre Dame this year as well … four hated teams (I don't really hate VT, but recent history against them puts them up there).
I will start the predictions..Duke 31, VaTech 28..
Duke was 4-0 and ranked last year when we laid a turducken egg against VT..just a woeful performance in front of a nice crowd at WW (32k+ and a 7pm TV audience.) Sure would be nice to snag a win...
FWIW, Sagarin has Duke at #52 and Virginia Tech at #85.
This is definitely winnable, and I think we can compete for the division title.
Duke keeps its string of 30+ games going, Duke 36 VTa 24.
I'm just glad it's on a channel I can watch. LGD!

last year we made the VT quarterback look like Tom Brady...clearly need a better effort this year...I know this isn't a vintage VT team, but neither was last year's (they had a losing record).
