    Ball’s Out: Lonzo ditches BBB

In perhaps the least shocking news ever, Lonzo Ball - the majority owner of BBB - has now severed ties with Big Baller Brand. Apparently, one of the co-owners - a trusted confidant of LaVarr - is suspected of stealing money from Lonzo.

The kicker? That guy is a convicted felon. Great parenting LaVar. You cost your kid millions in a shoe deal in favor of having him scammed out of money by a felon.

I’ve not been a fan of Lonzo Ball — he’s an LA Laker after all — but I feel bad for the guy. I don’t approve of his dad’s egotistical behavior and selfish parenting. I knew Lonzo would cut ties sooner or later.

As someone who works in the mental health field, I encounter the children of parents like LaVar Ball with unfortunate regularity.

Estrangement, if it hasn't happened yet, is typically the next step. I wouldn't say this kind of thing is an "epidemic," (the term is overused) but let's just say my schedule is full.

Good for him, I must admit I didn't like him because of his dad. After seeing him in the NBA though I've done a near 180, the kid is real good and cool too.

Lonzo always seemed to have a "deer in the headlights" look about him whenever his pops would start acting up.
Nothing incites bodily violence quicker than a Duke fan turning in your direction and saying 'scoreboard.'

I haven't had this much fun at the expense of an arrogant psychopath (the dad) since, um, earlier this week and Avenatti....been a very good week for YCMTSU humor.

Wonder if he can help his brothers find their own path as well.

I think the title of the thread (and OP’s post) is very misleading, based on my read of the article. He has severed ties with a co-founder (who is a family friend) who was involved in BBB and stole money from the company. Lonzo apparently owns 51% of BBB, but isn’t severing ties from the company he owns, which makes sense.

At least that’s my read of the article...

If the co-founder had severed ties with each of Lonzo's family, the title of the thread could have been truly alarming ...

I can link several other articles. That one just happened to talk about the reason why he is severing ties with BBB. Here are more links:

If you're going where it looks like you might be going with this, then you really don't want to go there. Not here, at least.

At least it seems as if Lonzo does have some good people in his corner. His financial manager - Lukanga - comes off looking like a responsible person doing his job well. I don’t know how some of these kids manage the wealth and hanger ons at such a young age. His brothers aren’t going to be the public figure that he is but hopefully he can teach them a few lessons from his own experience.

Considering that he just covered up the large BBB tattoo on his arm, I'd take that as severing ties.

He must really want out of the Big Baller stable, because those dice are...not good.

Yeah...I've seen better cover-up jobs from guys who just do tattoos for friends/family as a hobby.

Apparently BBB and Nike have something in common...their shoes both spontaneously burst. One brand with more frequency, to be sure.

Dad put his son's career in jeopardy (via injury) to further whatever the hell BBB was...
