Really like bourbon, but am a bit of a novice. Four Roses Small Batch is probably what I have liked most.

Im not an expert, but my favorite so far is Heaven Hill 6 year old green label.

Angels Envy makes the best Old Fashions’ too IMO.

    Mint Juleps = Maker’s Mark.

I don't really know much about whiskey so I'm not sure how well it actually holds up, but I was gifted a bottle of Defiant whiskey (made by Blue Ridge Distilling in Western NC) and thought it was pretty swell.

    Great topic!

I love Kings County Bourbon. Yes, it's from Brooklyn. Absolutely wonderful!

    Also Blanton's Single Barrel. Heaven.

One question I have: Is Pappy Van Winkle all that (with or without the bag of chips)?

Great topic! When I’m buying for some special occasion ($50-$60) I’ll go for Woodford Double Oaked, Blantons, or Blade and Bow. For every day drinking and cocktails ($30-$35), I like Maker’s 46 and Four Roses Small Batch. My favorite Old Fashioned recipe has Four Roses, Orange Bitters, and simple sugar in the raw.

I tried Pappy’s as part of a bourbon flight. I had 1/2 oz of the 12 year and I can’t imagine paying for a bottle. I mean, it was good but not noticeably better than Blanton’s IMO.

Lots of talk about bourbon barrels in “that other” Ymmm thread, though.

I was wondering this would morph into a Ymmmmmm bourbon thread.

Looks like others beat me to the punch, wonder if the mods would consider a rename to Ymmm, bourbon.

I’m only a very occasional bourbon drinker.

For those that are serious about their bourbon m, you might check out the Lonerider founders program:

Limited experience here but Woodford Reserve at a wedding several years ago was memorable. As was Makers Mark at another wedding 2-3 years ago. You can probably imagine how dreadful the beer selection was if you've got me sipping bourbon (no offense meant to the bourbon connoisseur with my comment either).

    Neat, of course.
