One of my favorite lines from the book was a response he got from another player, while giving a fake radio interview: 'So, what the hardest thing about being a major league ballplayer?' ' Well, Jim, I think it is persuading your wife to take antibiotics for your own kidney infection'.
Sports Journalism was never the same, nor should it have been.

RIP Jim. Not my favorite Yankee pitcher of all time, but I rooted for him. Remember reading the book as a teenager. Hot stuff! LGY LGD GTHc!
Ozzie, your paradigm of optimism!

Bouton had every right to be bitter. He had two outstanding seasons for the Yankees but they insisted on pitching him when he developed a sore arm and ruined a promising career.
But he was a darn good writer. RIP.
He forced me to think about Dick Radatz and oranges in a way I had never thought of at the time.
