Mentioned in a number of previous posts, but worth it again:

Point Lobos State Park. A few miles south of Carmel, just off Hwy. 1

Thanks for all the tips on Monterey.

We attended the wedding of our best friends' daughter at the Old Whaling Station in Monterey. Our friends moved from Colorado to San Diego seven months ago so we ended up spending a lot of time with them and their extended family, rather than seeking out great restaurants.

I think the Monterey Peninsula is the most beautiful spot in the U.S. I loved seeing the town and beach at Carmel again. Making the long walk to the beach, Labor Day weekend and there was no close parking, I recalled the joy I felt 40 years ago when I saw the beach for the first time.

I love Colorado but the Monterey Peninsula is special.
