Many of those “bad lobs” talked about above were passes that he had gone up and gotten all year, but were impossible in this game since they were usually holding his jersey. I thought this was MSU’s strategy - be physical and try to frustrate Zion. Unfortunately it worked, since the refs “let them play”.

And I agree with you. The results of Zion’s foul trouble totally changed the momentum of the game. You could feel it in the arena.
Yup. I was there too, but closer to Duke's 2nd half basket. Didn't have a good view of the grabbing you describe, but it makes sense.

If we can stop playing mine-is-bigger-than-yours for a minute, let me point out that Michigan State committed six turnovers against Duke. Six. For the entire game.

And this is a team that tended to commit turnovers in bunches during most of the season. But not that game.

And Duke tended to get a fair amount of its offense in transition. Duke's inability to generate live-ball turnovers was critical in that game.

Then again, I haven't played formal basketball since intramurals, so what do I know?
Great point. MSU committed almost double (11) in their next and last game.

No idea why this thread came back but we’ll probably all be thinking about this game during the next week when many of its participants get drafted. But I don’t think I can ever think about this loss without thinking about the absolute miracle win against UCF. Imagine having spent the last few months dealing with a loss to a 9 seed from a team that has zero basketball history instead of losing to the Big 10 champ and a fellow blue blood.

I would say that the most frustrating thing about this game is seeing this thread at the top of page 1 and not being able to ignore it. Let it go... please. For the love of all that’s good.

Good point, Jim. But it’s not over yet. There’s still time to get back on the court and up your DBR cred.

Exactly! Grayson is a tough, super intense, defensively hyper-aggressive, white basketball player who played four years under Coach K at Duke. The general public has close to zero tolerance for players who fit this description.

As many times as this wound has been re-opened, I'm going to need a case of this:

That doesn’t look like a traditional beer? Can it be injested?

Last time this thread got bumped, it hurt. This time, I was all, oh was this last year the year that MSU finally got us? They really should have in ‘99.

Ah, ‘99. Now that was a team.

    And then the clouds descended.
