Does it matter that the current Presidential doctor is a D.O.?

I've been thinking about this. America is hinging on hourly updates related to the President's health, for a sickness that is proven to be long lasting.
Maybe they are giving Trump miracle drugs, but not likely. This is NOT going to be over tomorrow, the next day, nor this week. Likely he will be sick for at least a couple weeks. Whether he is able to work in that time frame is a different scenario, but he is still going to be sick.
The doctors who come out and saying "He's doing great"; they are taking Americans for fools. If you are going to say something, if you are going to give us an update, be honest about it.

"He's stable" or "he's made progress" or even "he's not doing too well right now" is far better. This administration has been clouded in dishonesty; don't let it carry over to something of this magnitude. It's not good for the country. I think back to Boris Johnson's situation. They handled it right. He handled it right. They were honest. America could use a dose of that.
Q "Why do you like Duke, you didn't even go there." A "Because my art school didn't have a basketball team."

It’s as though Team Sharpie has been put in charge of the communications on this.

If wikipedia is to be believed, likely someone else. This is noted in Hope Hicks bio on wiki:

"Hicks also took dictation from Trump for his tweets, and then sent the text to another person in the Trump organization who sent the tweets from Trump's official account.[24][29] "

Pre-Presidency but I don't see why they would necessarily change the process.

yeah, Mark Meadows and Dr. Conlely's stories jibeth not. There's going to be a ton of scrutiny on the timeline...not to mention Potus's condition which, according to Meadows, is much more problematical than Conley led reporters to believe.

The President looks great in the new Twitter video. Seems to have more energy than yesterday and the fact that it was a 4 minute video tells me that he is not short of breath.

I wonder if Meadows was trying to make things seem bad earlier today in an effort to engender some sympathy for the President? Regardless, it sure seems like Trump is on the path to recovery. Great news for our nation!!

Frankly, that's one of the most Presidential speeches/soundbites I've ever heard from him in the last four years. The other one being his acceptance speech on election night. You don't hear him talking about the entirety of America and coming together too often...not that he used those exact words but he said he appreciated the bipartisan outpouring of support.

To be fair he said “almost bipartisan”.

His statement about being given the choice to stay at the White House and not go to the hospital sounds... inaccurate.

I don’t think he looked great. OK, but not great. Very pale but part of that is no tanner and it looks they skipped the makeup. At least they aren’t exposing the makeup person. We also don’t know how many takes they needed. Some videographers think there was a cough edited out using the morph cut from AdobePremiereC.

Yeah, a lot out there right now about that edit. Seems to be the case. DEFINITELY makes you worry about the power of deep fakes in the future though... can you imagine a faked video, made either to make things look good or bad?

We are definitely living in an altered reality world with the help of technology, lack of critical thinking skills, and a blossoming of conspiracy theorists.

Yes, there’s been some work on Pelosi using deep fakes, IIRC.

And, of course, the use in the porn videos.

It’s all very scary. It opens an entirely new front in disinformation. Used to be able to not believe everything you heard. Soon it will be everything you see, too.

    That’s darn frightening.

Trump sympathy bump? Doesn’t appear so at first glance; Biden with a 10-point lead in the first post-announcement poll:

Most Americans continue to be deeply worried about the virus, and the poll found that 65%, including 9 in 10 registered Democrats and 5 in 10 registered Republicans, agreed that “if President Trump had taken coronavirus more seriously, he probably would not have been infected.”

Only 34% said they thought that Trump has been telling them the truth about the coronavirus, while 55% said that he was not and 11% were unsure.

Of those polled, 57% of Americans said they disapproved of Trump’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic overall, up about 3 points from a poll that ran late last week.

Americans also appear to be largely supportive of curtailing the 2020 presidential race to ensure everyone’s safety.

Sixty-seven percent of Americans want to stop in-person campaign rallies and 59% think the presidential debates should be postponed until Trump recovers from the coronavirus.

Was just reading this over morning coffee. Ipsos is a B- rated pollster but 10 points is still a daunting spread.
