That's a troubling thought experiment. Power is a funny thing. I think it would be very ugly inside in the halls of Congress and out in the streets.

This isn't a funny time but Dan Rather's tweet about the Trump audio made me laugh.

The audio of Trump with the Georgia secretary of state. Wow. It’s like telling the Nixon tapes to “hold my beer.”

I drove by a house in the country yesterday with a 6 x 6 sign erected in the front yard. It read: "NO Masks Allowed Beyond This Point. ALL Are Welcome."

    Different planets.
    FoxNews...still leading with Nancy.

The Doobies were already takin' it to the streets over 40 years ago. (thought a little music might soothe our souls for a bit in these times)

After that brief respite, back to your regularly scheduled consternation.

Trump to give Presidential Medal of Freedom to Devin Nunes. Does the cow get one too?

All 10 living former defense secretaries say some things.

The letter -- signed by Dick Cheney, James Mattis, Mark Esper, Leon Panetta, Donald Rumsfeld, William Cohen, Chuck Hagel, Robert Gates, William Perry and Ashton Carter -- amounts to a remarkable show of force against Trump's subversion efforts just days before Congress is set to count Electoral College votes.

"Our elections have occurred. Recounts and audits have been conducted. Appropriate challenges have been addressed by the courts. Governors have certified the results. And the electoral college has voted. The time for questioning the results has passed; the time for the formal counting of the electoral college votes, as prescribed in the Constitution and statute, has arrived," the group wrote.

And why, pray tell, would they feel the need to publish this statement? What possibly could have prompted it? Perhaps a perfect phone call?

The mightiest river begins with a trickle. I think we should recognize any Republican willing to step up and be a voice of reason. I am not saying these 7 voices (and a few more who have begun speaking out — watch Adam Kitzinger’s interview on CNN tonight, strong stuff) absolve the rest of the GOP or anything like that. But our nation will heal faster if we have more and more members of the GOP who accept Biden as president and these initial voices are important toward achieving that goal.
Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

I think it is because Congressional Republicans are the only group which have failed to honor their duties. State, local, and judicial officers all have by and large.

That’s right, Jason. We should at least admire and support those that are taking a stand.

And not forget them when they need support in two years when facing a hostile primary from a Trump-endorsed candidate.

Here's a snippet where he says GOP Reps should stand up to Trump, even if it costs them their careers: https://twitter.com/AnaCabrera/statu...02863780884480

And here is an early tweet after he read the Wash Post story: https://twitter.com/RepKinzinger/sta...28522254880770

This is absolutely appalling. To every member of Congress considering objecting to the election results, you cannot- in light of this- do so with a clean conscience. #RestoreOurGOP

My post was not a dig at your tweet. It is disturbing that we consider a minimal show of spine (I mean, they could actually speak out against the others) by 3.3% of a certain caucus to be heartening in these times.

I truly think the response to this should be non-partisan. It is what it is.

You can put lipstick on a pig all you want and it's still a pig. Reminds me a little bit of the first episode of "The Black Mirror".

So, I'll put the prediction out there that Trump will ultimately have to be escorted from the WH. I've been of the mind that he'd do ANYTHING in his power, legal or otherwise, to overturn the election results. He's done that. Earlier on, I did think he'd vacate the premises just before inauguration w/o engaging any formalities with Biden. That's almost a given.

But, I'm putting it out there for the DBR boards, he's going to get evicted --- and it will be after the clock has turned over to Biden's presidency and Trump still tries to issue presidential orders.
