NFL draft conversation (with lots of Daniel Jones stuff)

While I enjoyed the article, I do take issue with the bold part of the following statement:



I say Daniel Jones has a tendency to lock in on and stare down the receiver he intends to target. Jones is great reading defenses pre-snap but post-snap reads are an area where he needs to improve to succeed at the next level.

That's what I saw from Jones as well. I understand he has NFL size and toughness but I'm still shocked at the level of hype he's been getting from pundits in the last couple weeks. Hope they are better evaluators of qb's than I am. Guess it would be sad if they weren't...

Interesting that this article calls Jones a "fringe first round" pick....seems a lot of places have him in the 10th pick to 15th pick range...which would not be "fringe."

I suppose the Patriots are picking last in the first round; therefore, the visit by Jones lines up with his potential "fringeness." Moreover, I see Mel Kiper has Jones to the Pats with the 32nd pick.

Hoping that Jones ends up with a good franchise (not you, Washington), Having said that, all the predraft babble is a bastion of misinformation, teams have absolutely no incentive to say who they really like, for obvious reasons...going to a better franchise at a lower pick is not a bad thing at all...

Speaking of Gil, he was quoted today as saying we're in the Lying Season, nothing is to be believed, smokescreens left and right.
Interesting (if a bit sad) Duke connection: Gil said that years ago his staff knew they had a leak in the organization (giving stuff out to a local paper)...so they set a guy up (on their staff) by
making a notation on their Big Board that they wanted Duke's Mike Junkin (unfortunate first round bust in the league, steroids involved I do believe) even though they had zero interest in
Junkin....and voila, the next day the local rag had an article about the Cowboys being ready to take Junkin.

We'll know where Jones is going once he's gone there, and not a bit sooner.
