I did not watch the game but just noticed from a picture that Jones played for the Yankees. Explain that.

Thought it was a FOOTBALL game. Didn’t see the bats.

Jones played for the North. Duke is in the South. Maybe he is a Southern Unionist.

You think that's weird? The South had players from West Virginia, Temple, Pitt, and ... Buffalo!??!!? Whoever came up with these squads clearly failed basic geography...

Here is a nice article on Daniel Jones and Coach Cutcliffe. I hope a bunch of talented high school quarterbacks read it:

    https://www.si.com/nfl/2019/02/07/da...ce=twitter.com

While I enjoyed the article, I do take issue with the bold part of the following statement:

Jones is one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2019 draft class; there’s a lot to like about him. He’s 6' 5", 220 lbs, he’s accurate, he’s shown an ability to read defenses and manipulate coverage with his eyes, and he’s resilient—he broke his collarbone early in the 2018 season at Northwestern, had surgery to fix it, and returned to the field just 20 days later.
I say Daniel Jones has a tendency to lock in on and stare down the receiver he intends to target. Jones is great reading defenses pre-snap but post-snap reads are an area where he needs to improve to succeed at the next level.

USA Today mock draft with DJ at #15, the fourth QB off the board. (Going to Redskins.)

(Didn't another certain Duke QB do pretty well the Skins along time ago? )

I remember him, the ancient Duke quarterback, because he and I both had ruptured our Achilles tendons in the same year. I was still at Duke at the time. (Achilles was the fashionable injury before ACL came along.)

My Redskins, yeh! And yes, Sonny was a darn good QB for the Skins. I believe he came from the Eagles and they got Norm Snead(Wake QB) in return. Now if we could just get a new owner. GoDuke!

DJ and the draft: buyers' market in NFL

Here is ESPN story that may not bode so well for Jones...about there being a bit of a glut at the QB position now in the NFL. Haven't heard this take before. (full disclosure, it still says Jones may go first round....)

Yeah, there's so much varying information and outright nonsense written about the draft that I'm glad I don't have a vested interest in any of it. Dozens of experts, few know much, and those who do (like team general managers) aren't in the business of telling you who they really like with the 18th, 39th or 75th pick because they're fearful someone else will snatch them up first. Spy vs Spy, mum's the word.
No matter where Jones is taken (first round, second round, whatever) he'll surely get a chance to show what he can do. Just has to hope he doesn't get nabbed by some hapless organization.

SI mock draft has Daniel Jones going #10 to Denver:

A lot of positive press came out on Jones' performance yesterday.

Jones has workouts scheduled with both the Giants and the Broncos. Not sure which workout comes first, but Elway is definitely interested.

Today’s NY Post mock draft has him to the Giants at 17 (the Odell pick). Not much pressure on him if that’s the case...😉

NFL invited Daniel Jones to the draft. Probably good news for him. None of these leagues want to embarrass a kid so they usually have a good indication they’ll get picked early.

Just curious, because the draft bores me to tears and I never spend a second following it, but you got me curious now: How many participants does the NFL typically invite to the draft festivities? This sounds like a pretty big honor to me.

    Apparently 23 (this year).

That doesn't mean a player has to go, nor does it stop a potential draftee from paying their own way (I saw a draftee come out of the stands once.. very happy).
