And I'm betting when you calculate on court minutes, Duke is younger (though I certainly didn't go thru the mechanics of that....where is Kedsy's flux capacitor when you need it?)

They play Tennessee again in a week or so I expect the same result.
The Duke and Kentucky teams that played earlier this year are gone. Both are much improved.

Is that weighted based on playing time? Because we have a lot of age sitting on our bench. And if it is based on PT we will start to get younger because we played an older lineup when Tre was out - now that he is going 40 a game that will bring us younger. Regardless, I appreciate your point on UK, but looking at their roster, it is basically Travis, a few sophs and the rest freshmen.

Yeah, I was referring to our matchup in the first game of the season. Coming into that game our starters had, what, a couple hundred minutes of college experience total (all from Bolden)? They started senior Travis, soph Washington, and three freshmen. So still very young but much older than us. The expectation was that our guys would need some time to adjust to the college game, but that was not the case.

Washington has been playing at a really high level lately. He’d be the guy to key on defensively in a rematch.

Yes, weighted by playing time. Kentucky starts a red shirt senior, but brings freshman off the bench.

Thanks for the clarification concerning experience. I agree that UK's starting lineup technically has more experience, but this is Reid's first year at UK. Because of this, UK was at least as inexperienced, as a team, as this year's Duke team. Part of experience is playing time together, neither team has an edge in this area, and UK was clearly farther behind when they played in November.

MSU's Ward suffers hairline fracture of left hand, out indefinitely

Big news for Michigan State's big man. The school has reported that Ward does not have a timetable for a return and could return this season.

Was that from today's game, or was this an earlier injury?

This poor team's injury luck this season has been as bad as Kansas.

Happened today against OSU. The Sparties were actually down at half and came back without Ward, aided by home court.

If Ward is out for the foreseeable future, this has a lot of ripple effects. From a local perspective, this helps Michigan and Purdue in the B1G race... Purdue has a very favorable schedule down the stretch, so Michigan probably has to sweep MSU to win the regular season title, which is now more of a possibility. From a larger perspective, this has two major effects. On one hand, I find it highly unlikely that MSU could make a run to put itself back in the running for a 1 seed without Ward. On the other, I think this makes that more of a possibility for Michigan in a convoluted way. If Michigan finishes as a 3 or 4 loss B1G champion, including a regular season sweep of MSU (not to mention an early season thrashing of Purdue), that would be a compelling resume for a No. 1 seed considering the B1G is the consensus second best conference in the country. It might require some additional losses by Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky, but the stuff that Michigan can control would now be much more feasible.

Today. At least it is his offhand, but he may be done for the season. MSU is snakebit this year.

Nope, Ward is a lefty and the injury is to his left hand.

I just realized that. Really tough. MSU will not be able to replace his offense. At best, they’re a 4 seed now.

For sure. They were already having major problems generating offense without Langford, and were relying on Ward to replace that. Now this team will be putting EVERYTHING on Cassius Winston (side note: Zavier Simpson has historically, even going back to high school, absolutely shut down Winston, which is one of the reasons all of this is big news for Michigan). Even worse, a handful of seldom used freshmen will now be the only big men off the bench for MSU. Foul trouble could be disasterous.

Chase Jeter is almost certainly the best player on Arizona... think about that for a minute.

They also have the No. 1 recruiting class in the country coming in next year according to 247. Looks like Sean Miller is going to escape from this mess scot-free, somehow.
