One of the GREATEST....so gifted and talented
RIP Roy Clark. Country legend passed today at 85. They always pass in threes. Stan Lee, David Pearson, and now Roy Clark..
One of the GREATEST....so gifted and talented
Yesterday, when I was young.
What an incredible musician.
I had to watch a lot of Hee Haw when I was young (you know, back when there was one TV in the house and Dad got to watch what he wanted), and it was always a bright spot when Roy Clark was on the screen. Oh, and the Hee Haw Honeys.
R.I.P.
Edit: Most probably don't know this, but Roy pretty much made Branson, Missouri what it is. From wikipedia:
"In 1983, Branson began its transformation into a major tourist attraction when the Roy Clark Celebrity Theatre opened and began to bring famous country music stars to Branson. Many of the performers who have had their own theaters in Branson first discovered Branson when they performed at this venue.[citation needed] The Roy Clark Celebrity Theatre at the Lodge of the Ozarks has been called the "birthplace of Branson celebrity theatres"."
There is a channel called RFD, I get it with U-verse. Sunday nights they show Hee Haw. I have been watching it for flashbacks to my childhood. I knew Buck Owens had died a while back Had wondered about Roy. He could tear up a banjo and electric guitar. RIP.

Here's a look of some of what has passed:

[there's a more widely-viewed one he does with a semi-hollow electric guitar, but I suspect it's not safe to view for some people who are prone to graphics-induced seizures, thanks to some "far out" overlay the video editor added]
Anyway - that's a real "guitar face"
Wouldn't it be amazing to watch him in high speed video? That right hand is as fast as a hummingbird's wings.
I was always a bit partial to his work on the banjo. Though you can hardly call it work. He always seemed to be having a blast, and this clip also shows a bit of his humor.

And if I could sport sideburns like that, I would.
