    Question Favorite Foods??

If for the rest of your life you could eat only ONE thing from the following food groups, what would it be? Meat, Seafood, Vege, Fruit, Starch, Beverage, Dairy, and Sweets?

    My choices are the following:

    Meat -- rare steak
    Seafood -- clams
    Vege -- broccoli
    Fruit -- watermelon
    Dairy -- cheese
    Starch -- mashed potatoes
    Beverage -- water
    Sweets -- cheesecake

I know this a stupid post, but...it's late here in L.A. and I'm curious.

Pears or pineapple, it's too close to call
    Cheese
    Rice
    Coffee
    Key Lime Pie

God, I feel fat. Seriously. Every time I bend over or touch myself.

Tomatoes are actually a fruit - but we'll let that slide this time.

    fruit-Granny Smith Apples
    dairy-milk
starch-roast potatoes; long grain and wild rice (that's my extra for not eating veggies)

    Meat -- filet mignon, medium-rare
Seafood -- sashimi-grade tuna (I may cook it occasionally, but raw is just fine.)
    Veggie -- spinach (so versatile!)
Fruit -- a perfect Georgia peach. (But those are hard to come by, so Bananas would suffice.)
    Dairy -- milk. 2%.
Starch -- this is actually the hardest for me; I love me some starches. Rice will win out, if only so I can make sushi with my raw tuna.
    Beverage -- red wine
Sweets -- Dark chocolate, or Breyers Vanilla Bean ice cream.

Is garlic a vegetable? I'm being serious.

After reading this thread I am craving a rare steak, spinach salad, baked potato, watermelon, sharp Vermont cheddar cheese, and chocolate. I'm not craving any seafood as lately it makes me nauseous.

Yeah... my initial choice was "no thanks." If you eat the bulb, is it not considered a veggie? I'd go with creamed spinach as my second choice if garlic is disqualified.

The Goldberg's nearest 10 Degrees South, or the one off Paces Ferry by OK Cafe? I haven't been to the Roswell Rd one in 3-4 years, but I heard they remodeled.

On bagels alone, I'll go with Bagel Palace by Toco Hills. I do, however, like the Paces Ferry Goldberg's.

    Cheers,

    BarBQue Chicken

    Meat -- Chicken... preferrably BBQ'd!
You know even though I am pretty much a vegetarian I like to barbeque but I have come to the conclusion you cannot barbeque chicken. Anyplace that serves barbeque chicken is lying. I was experimenting with this concept just last weekend. Chicken cooked for hours at a low temperature ends up tasting like cardboard there is just not enough fat in the meat, maybe you could barbeque thighs only. True Barbeque (hard to find north of the Mason Dixon line) is slowly cooked meat at a temperature of around 220 degrees for many hours. You need fatty meat for this to work, pork shoulder, ribs, do nicely. In Texas they go for beef and for some strange reason in Kentucky they go for mutton.http://bbq.about.com/cs/lamb/a/aa102000a.htm

I have only ever gotten from the goldbergs on Roswell Road, just before you get to buckhead (near 10 degrees south).

You cant order it at their restaurant, you have to go into the deli and order it, take it home, and throw it on the grill.

One of the owners, Howard Aaron (guy with a pony tail, somewhat creepy) can tell you the proper way to prepare it. Basically you just cook it like any other sausage.

Again, for anyone who has a bit of an adventurous pallet - do yourself a favor!

Because it tastes better than pork. There, I said it, bring it on.

    mutton

hc5duke.. I assume you meant beef. I would like to try mutton but I don't get to Western Kentucky that often or ever.

For anyone who wants to cook real good barbeque I would recommend buying "the big green egg". http://biggreenegg.com/ This is also a good and cheap way to be a hero at any carryin function. Since barbeque meats are the cheapest cuts you can cook a lot for few bucks and if you live north of the Mason Dixon line it will be better barbeque than you can get anywhere in town. When you are grilling the Big Green Egg is excellent for that also.
