If 15 games at Duke is required then that would eliminate Kyrie Irving.

That was more or less the intention. I decided to include him on the first list but exclude him from the second list.

    My takeaways:

The biggest surprise for me was Gminski making the list. I was not surprised Verga made the list but I was a tad surprised by how many times he did it (6!). Sure it might have been garbage time, but Grayson has joined some pretty cool company. Also interesting to note that only one of Duke's 1-and-done players has reached 40 (which makes me sick thinking about not getting to see him more in a Duke uniform all over again).
Big Bob Verga fan as a kid. I was surprised as well that he had 40 points or more six times. It was hard to follow the ABA back then. No television coverage in our area. He retired pretty young. His last season he was 28 and he only played in 21 games for Portland. The prior year he did not play at all. The stats looked pretty good before that time. Assuming he must have had a bad injury that curtailed his career?

Any bets on who the next one to do it will be (of guys that haven't already done it yet)?

Tyus finished the year with a 6.9:1 assist-to-turnover ration. The TWolves social media feed claims this is an NBA best all-time stat. I am not sure how that should be adjusted for minutes played but it's still an amazing accomplishment.

this is not a bet, but i wouldn't be surprised if Jayson Tatum or Marvin Bagley were the next to get 40 in a game. The NBA loves to feast on a mismatch and both of those guys are capable of putting up a bunch of points. Jayson has shown a knack for getting hot from 3, and can also score efficiently at all levels, so 40 points seems like something he might do sometime soon. Bagley hasn't shown the knack for 3pt shooting, but he often puts up games with absurdly good FG shooting, like going 10-14. It's not hard to imagine him going, say, 16-22, with some FTs and a 3FG or 2 for good measure.
Seth Curry, Frank Jackson, Rodney Hood, even Jabari, all seem like guys that could get insanely hot in a game and get 40 at some point.

    Rodney Hood!

With the 76'ers out of the playoffs, I was wondering about JJ's contract status. I don't remember, how long of a contract did he sign last year?

Also, where's a good place to look that up so I don't have to bother you all next time?

It was a 1-year contract. He's an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

A bunch of website show team payrolls. You can just google "X team Payroll"

    Here's one: https://www.spotrac.com/nba/philadelphia-76ers/cap/

He is a free agent, though most folks expect Philly to bring him back for something like the same $12.25 he played for this year.

I use Sporttrac, which is outstanding at contracts and yearly salary cap tables. Here is their JJ page and here is their page for the Sixers 2019-20 cap situation.
I don't know what you are doing right now, but if you aren't listening to the DBR Podcast, you're doing it wrong.

    Elton will have his hands full figuring out what to do with that team...Butler may well walk (not sure he's a great fit anyway), Simmons and Embid don't quite click,, Simmons can't shoot, Embid can't stay healthy;
not sure Harris is worth re-signing or not...keeping Redick would seem to be a logical move amidst a lot of uncertainty.

JJ has also made his desire known. He'd like to be back in Philly. He's been pretty clear the last few years in his various interviews and Podcasts how Philly has been his favorite professional situation so far. I'd certainly love to see him back but he'll have plenty of suitors, methinks.

Rodney Hood is out on the floor warming up but is currently listed as questionable for tonight because of the knee injury he suffered last game.

Rumors of Steph Curry's demise have been greatly exaggerated.
Just be you. You is enough. - K, 4/5/10, 0:13.8 to play, 60-59 Duke.

You're all jealous hypocrites. - Titus on Laettner

You see those guys? Animals. They're animals. - SIU Coach Chris Lowery, on Duke

When Steph is the man he is hard to stop. He tends to defer to Durant.

I don't mean to single you out for this comment, and you are certainly correct at least insofar as Curry is obviously a more central part of the offense in Durant's absence. That said, I'm seeing a lot of commentary to the effect that the old Curry is back, or Curry will shine without having to share the ball with Durant, etc.

This view leaves out that Curry scored more points, took more shots, and had a higher usage rate than Durant this year. He scored 27.3 ppg on better than 60% eFG. He had a sensational season. Of course, the Houston series looked a little different, but the playoffs are always matchup-specific. Curry has played well (and occasionally, not well) with and without Durant.
