awhom, can you post the numbers for the Kansas-MSU game? Also, was there a fifteen minute or half hour breakdown of the Duke-Kentucky ratings? I am betting the first half was significantly higher than the second as the game was clearly a blowout and it was late at night. I would imagine KY fans and even some Dukies chose to go to sleep rather than watch what was clearly tremendous mismatch.

I know that this Duke-KY was very similar to last year's Champion's Classic versus MSU (which averaged 2,967,000 viewers) but I suspect the numbers were a lot higher if we only look at the first half or so.
Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

Not sure about sleep... I had two screens going - the big one for the game and the little one for that other business.

I have not seen breakdowns. ESPN would usually be the one to publicize that sort of thing themselves, but they probably are not motivated to do so in this case.

    From Sports Media Watch:
The Gonzaga-Duke Maui Invitational Championship earned a 1.7 overnight rating on ESPN Wednesday afternoon, the highest for the title game since 2010. Overnights for last year’s final were not available.

Tuesday’s Duke-Auburn semifinal had 2.17 million viewers, up 422% from last year’s first semifinal, which aired in the early afternoon (Marquette-Wichita State: 415K). It ranks as the second-most watched college basketball game this season, pending final results for Wednesday’s final. The top spot belongs to Duke-Kentucky in the Champions Classic (2.85M).

Aided by the strong lead-in, Gonzaga-Arizona had 1.26 million (+153%).

I don't understand why they played the championship game at 5:00 EST. It would have drawn far more viewers if it had been played at 9:00 EST even if they had moved it to ESPN2.

Cavs - Lakers/Lebron at 8 that night. Moving to the deuce wouldn’t work as the two games would compete for b-ball viewers.
