Tiger looks locked in. He has pulled off some nice recoveries on the front nine.
Tiger heading to the back nine one shot off the lead. He has struggled on the back nine three days in a row. Can he turn it around today?
PGA Championship is wide open.

Koepka looking so solid again. Tiger very close, but needed one of those near-miss putts to fall.
Tiger clawed out a 64 today despite not hitting a fairway on the front nine. Pretty good. But those first two holes of the tourney killed him.
Pretty sure the win goes to either CB&B or me. Both of us picked Koepka, Woods, and Grace; CB&B added a T6 (Thomas) and T12 (Spieth, while I had T19 (Day), T27 (Cantlay), T42 (Finau), and T50 (McIlroy). I suspect CB&B just edges me out with T6 and T12 probably being worth more than T19, T27, and T42, and T50.

This is pretty much a worthless statistic, but still kinda interesting:
Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods are the only golfers (until now) to win the U.S. Open and PGA Championship in the same year. That's quite a list of names. Congrats to Brooks Koepka for joining that foursome.
I wouldn’t say it’s worthless. It demonstrates how hard it is to win two majors in a row. I think there was a similar stat about Spieth winning the first two legs of the grand slam a few years ago. Koepka looked this week like a guy who could win 10 majors. He has all the tools. My big question with him is health with his build. If he stays healthy, he will win a lot of tournaments.
You're forgetting The Open.
I meant worthless in that you can probably put 2 or 3 things together in some kind of combination and make it an anomaly (which golfers won a Masters and PGA in same year for example). Again, he joined a nice club. But at the end of his career it won't matter when he won his majors as much as how many he won. It's important in that it will probably win him player of the year (unless Reed or Molinari win the tour championship, then you'd have to look a little deeper).
I have CameronBornandBred narrowly edging CDu, but someone should check my math. Congrats to CB&B!
CameronBornandBred $3,766,460
CDu $3,491,240
Rasputin $2,528,276
Mal $2,480,319
Tripping William $1,969,991
left hook lacy $1,761,109
killerleft $1,752,619
elvis14 $1,595,415
cato $1,435,240
curtis325 $1,424,176
mkirsh $1,370,543
HouseP $1,058,118
nmduke2001 $873,138
Rich $717,294
Bob Green $714,869
tbyers11 $595,793
mr. snyellinden $544,595
I'd like to dedicate this hard fought victory to Pure Luck, that guy is my favorite golfer.
Also a shout of thanks to Mkirsh's continuous math skills. Irony of going to art school...my SATs proved I was naturally good at numbers...doesn't mean I enjoyed them! Thanks so much for keeping tabs.

Also...it just hit me JE didn't partake in this one. Eaten by tortoises I suppose. His team tends to contend in the upper half of the pools.
I wonder if he tasted like chicken.

Yeah - I meant two two majors in a year - and these two majors, which is what the stat was about. My bad.
And I'd say Koepka is the player of the year unless Reed or Molinari win more than one of the playoff events and the tour championship. Even then, Koepka wins I think. Two majors is hard to beat - unless someone else wins two majors also.

Other than a dollar here and there - seems maybe due to Finau being 33,281 not 33,280 - the only changes I see are to nmDuke2001 (895,706) - missed Olesen?; and mr. synellinden (567,162) - missed Olesen also?. None of these affect order of finish. Congrats CB&B (and to CDu for picking 1st and 2nd also).

Is Rickie becoming the American Sergio? I like him and was rooting for him to win Sunday. I typically root for the 'best golfer to not win a major' and he seems like a nice guy. But he turns 30 this winter and is 4 years removed from his great major year when he came so close so many times. Yes I know he tied for 2nd at the Masters, but he was tied for 3rd yesterday morning and went the wrong way.
Edit: I just looked at the other majors this year. He was solid but not spectacular at The Open. At the U.S. Open, he was +14 on Saturday (not a typo) or he could have won (finished 10 back). That Saturday was a brutal day but there were plenty of low 70s shot. Even a few in the 60s.

Nice article talking about how far Tiger has come in such a short period of time. It may just be me but I like the new Tiger. He seems more appreciative and maybe even humble after everything he's been through. Seeing him stick around to congratulate Brooks was nice and he had a lot of kind remarks for the fans yesterday in his press conference.
I never in a million years thought he would win another major, and he still may not, but at this point I would be more shocked if he didn't win another one before he calls it quits. Unbelievable really when you think about where he was last year at this time.

I like rooting for Rickie too and, in his defense, he was playing hurt -- https://www.golfchannel.com/article/...blique-strain/
I'd like to see him win one when all is said and done, but I agree time is getting short. At least he has a Players Championship, which is kind of like the 5th major.

Kiss your sister much? I hope you know I'm laughing as I type that.
The Players is nice, he got a $1.8M check for that. Even got about $1.2M for his 2nd at the Masters this year. Plus he's doing pretty well with endorsements. Don't cry for Rickie.
But golf is soooo much about the majors. Even the Players is a pretty big step back. Just the way it is. Almost anyone can tell you how many majors Jack (and Tiger) has/have. How many can tell you how many tour victories either of them has? Or who has the most tour victories, and what his number is.
During my 2 minutes of research I was surprised that Rickie only has 4 tour wins. I would have thought he had more.
Pretty sure that Koepka only has 4 wins too.
It’s hard to win touraments. I don’t think Fowler’s age is all that important at this point. I think the pressure of not having won a major does hurt, though. Just like the pressure of never having won a tournament hurt until he broke through.
