I'm afraid to ask, what if we pronounce both of these exactly the same?

Not only that, but one of the armadillo's main defense mechanisms when frightened is to jump three to four feet straight up in the air, which is singularly unhelpful when it comes to avoiding traffic.

    A 4 foot vertical? That's better than Zion .
[redacted] them and the horses they rode in on.

True! If not for its slightly deficient vertical reach, we could have a new contender for inclusion in the "death lineup."

Considering the number of deceased 'dillos that MulletMan has seen, I *think* they're already included in anyone's "death lineup."

...well, it depends on whether you pronounce them both Kerry, or Carry.

We've lived in outside of Houston for 5 years now, and I've yet to see a live 'dillo other than the one at the Houston zoo. At the same time, I've seen at least 100 DEAD 'dillos. They don't appear to be very swift re: cars and trucks.
Reminds me of a day when the kids were young and my wife had a horse when we were living in Georgia. She came back from an afternoon at the horse farm and happily explained how the kids had been entertained for quite a while by the discovery of a dead chipmunk. Her take on it was...."You can't buy a dead chipmunk at the mall."

Everybody local calls Kerr Lake Buggs Island. So it's not an issue for us. "Y'all going to Buggs Island?". "Yup. Then to Kerr Drugs. Buggs to Drugs."
Man, if your Mom made you wear that color when you were a baby, and you're still wearing it, it's time to grow up!

I hang with lots of folks that fish, and absolutely no one calls it anything but Buggs Island.
