Dad's 90th - dad & cake.jpg
My old Pops is still lookin' good at 90!
I thought I'd share this pic from Jarhead's big 90th birthday celebration last weekend as another update on him for his beloved DBR community. Of, course, he's sad we lost yesterday, but as always, he's super proud of Coach K & his players (as am I, on all counts). Go Duke!!!!! & GTHC!!

Happy belated birthday, Sir JarHead! May your 90th year be filled with joy and unexpected blessings.
Happy Belated, Jarhead!
He does still have all his own hair, and he didn't turn even a little gray until about 80, so yeah, a lot like Coach K. Unfortunately, my mom's side of the family grays earlier, much to my sister and one brothers chagrin, and... much to my other brothers chagrin, and my own, thins out on top too.

May God bless the man.
This is what it is all about. Sharing special memories about special people in our lives. We got an Irish Setter puppy in Durham when my dad was in the PhD program in 1966-67 I believe. Named him Duke Reddevil. Last week I sent my mom a text because I could not remember his birthday (he lived 17 years!). She replied and yesterday I received a letter from her. Inside was a picture from Christmas 1972, with me, my sister, and Duke sitting on the living room floor together. I had Duke's stocking in my hand. I still have his stocking and hang it each Christmas. That picture has been on my parents refrigerator for nearly 50 years and now it is on mine.
I am glad you have had so many memorable experiences with your parents and hope you have many more with your dad. Cherish those stories and tell yours too. Someone is cherishing those.
Fourth of July bump. Semper Fi.
Somehow I missed this.
Good to see Jarhead looking good. Patriarch he is.
Best wishes, Jar, to you and your entire family.
I missed it too. Best wishes Jarhead! I always enjoyed your posts on the old PPB.
