I read several times that a major factor of Tre coming back is his love for Duke and wanting to win a National Championship like his brother. There is no guarantee that Tre doesn’t come back if we do not win it all this year. He was the kid with Duke posters on his wall before Tyus committed. This kid loves Duke and loves playing for Coach K. He has definitely improved in his second year but if he were to be drafted they are going on potential and he would not play much in his first couple years until he can consistently make outside shots.

There was a picture posted on twitter on Dec 31st (https://twitter.com/ArmstrongABC11/s...02792735719424) in which Coach K took several of the team down to watch Kuminga face off against Montverde.

It was telling that the players who went were, Tre Jones, Wendell Moore, Joey Baker and Jordan Goldwire (along with coach Scheyer, James, Carawell and the ultimate closer - Cherokee Parks).

What do you think the message was to Kuminga?

Tre is coming back and Parks will be the new small-man coach next year?

If the message involved reading Cherokee's tats - I hope he had a Rosetta Stone handy! Really, The Chief was on a recruiting junket with The Coach? How cool!

I also seen the photo ! Had me wondering about the infamous lead recruiting specialist, Cherokee Parks !

Can’t wait for the all PG/Combo guard lineup:

Tre, JGold, JRoach, Steward and Moore.

I can't believe there is no mention of Jalen Johnson leaving IMG and not playing the rest of the HS year. Does this deny him the opportunity to be in the HS All-Star type games?

I know he was injured and had surgery, and there is some talk that he is rehabbing and not wanting any further injury in HS.

Also, Jason, you mentioned him possibly enrolling at Duke in January.

Why would Tre stick around for his junior year after winning an NC in his sophomore year?

To break Hurley's record of two national championships as Duke's point guard.

You can't 3-peat if you only play 2 years. Simple math.

At UNC that's a graduate level course.
Explains why UNC has never even two-peated.

Tre was out scouting Kuminga. If he wasn't coming back, wouldn't he be in his dorm room playing Madden 2k or something?

Thanks for sharing this news, I had not seen it. I asusme he hasn't appeared in any games for IMG this season? I guess we also assume that he'll home school to finish out his high school credits?

Being in school and pursuing professional basketball are two activities that are less aligned with every year.

Mark Williams is on the IMG team and without Jalen they are really struggling (for an elite high school program). Here is a boxscore from a recent game where IMG only scored 22 points (not in a half, that is the whole game). Mark Williams was a paltry 0-2 from the field (one of those was a 3 pointer... what is a 7 footer doing shooting only 1 2pt shot in a game?!?) with 5 rebounds. But keep on scanning the boxscore... 8 blocked shots. Dude is a rim protector!

Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

I believe both teams are 1) imitating unc's shooting in the first half of the GT game or 2) using UVa's defense.

Look at the 3 point shooting percentage and the number of 3s vs 2s attempted...ugly!!

Looks like the game was played in Memphis, and Tennessee is one of the many states that does not have a shot clock for boys' high school basketball. If the game was played using Tennessee's rules, that may be part of the explanation for the low score...
