Going out of state to land talent would be a very (successful head coach's) move.
Of Bruce Pearl's Auburn FF starters, 3 were from Georgia and a fourth from North Augusta, SC(and the injured Okeke is from ATL).
Do you think many Hoosiers really cared that the undefeated '75-'76 IU team had two out-of-state starters in Scott May and Quinn Buckner, and that 5/13 players on that team were from Illinois?
Do you think that Hoosier supporters are going to be okay with IU continuing to go 16-15 and 19-16 under Archie Miller, even if he is recruiting and playing the best in-state players? Ironically, none of IU's current targets in the 2020 class is from Indiana.
Tom Crean is paid to recruit and win at the highest level, and he'll be very popular at UGA should he begin to win 24-26+ games/year, regardless of where the players hail from.
