14,809 steps logged this morning. Walked on the canal path along the river. Low 80’s by the time I finished, and quite humid.

Some of the musicians that came up on my shuffle:

    Billie Holiday
    Wilco
    C + C Music Factory
    Beethoven
    James McMurtry
    Sinatra
    Rufus Thomas (!!!)
    Little Feat
    Allman Bros.
    James Brown
    Grateful Dead
    Robert Johnson
    Eminem
    Radiohead
    Sabaton
Beatles (Three Cool Cats — real deep cut)
    Merle Haggard

Quite the day already. Time for a shower and a nap, then on to cooking.

    Beat me. For now.

I have that track on one of the Beatles' Anthology CDs from many years ago. Lots of interesting cuts on those 6 CDs and their Live at the BBC release.

What river is that? Walking is grand, couldn't get by without it...I too am now turning attention to a large spatchcocked chicken...

There have been some sighted in the last few weeks. They don’t always home this far north.

Yep. Sometimes, in days gone by, the Georgia Dawgs were no match for the Gators.

As much as we savored our time living a few miles from the above gorgeous river, the Savannah River valley was the only area we've lived that was hotter and more humid than our current zip code.

Humidity let’s you know you’re alive.

Mainly, because to live is to suffer. Nietzsche knew the score.

I keep two raw chicken thighs in my backpack at all times for gators or bears.

Does that attract bears though? Seems wise for the gators, but I thought bears could smell that food from a distance.
Hard at work making beautiful things.

Nice work. In some other part of Atlanta, I am working out in my girlfriend's driveway. I ordered a Rogue power bar and 120 lbs of bumper plates. I also have a jump rope, a wall ball and an ab mat, so I am able to do my Crossfit style workouts, although I don't have enough weight to do any serious deadlifts.

Generally doing an eight to nine mile run every other day in Druid Hills (I drive and park to run there), then an interval workout with weights and double unders on alternate days.

My fitbit died Tuesday at the beach. I wore it into the ocean and it didn't like that too much. That fitbit has been in oceans, lakes, showers, etc. etc. I'll have to buy a new one. I've been wearing one for years and it's driving me a little crazy not having it. I miss the step tracking, call and text notifications, etc.

Earlier this year I lost a small bracelet my daughter and I made 7 years ago. I had never taken it off! It's somewhere at a golf course. Now with my fitbit broken, it's the first time in 7+ years I've not had something on my left wrist. Feels weird.

My fitbits seem to last about two years or so, after which they lose the ability to hold a charge very long.

It's almost like the planned it that way.

    LOL...almost

I think this may have been my 3rd. Truth be told, I'm looking forward to some of the features in the latest Fitbit Charge, specifically the GPS stuff (of course that means yet another device tracks my movements but since I'm not trying to avoid criminal prosecution at this time, I'm OK with that).

Overall mile time after three weeks is still bad.

Peak sprint pace today was extraordinarily satisfying.

Shameful. The real discussion about fitness buried on page 3 or 4.

    Walk last PM:

    Time: 900 PM
    Temp: 88F (no typo)
    Humidity: 64%
    Dew point: 74
    Duration: 60 minutes
    Distance: 3.6 miles

    Not pleasant but necessary.

I’m about to do some deck yoga, which will be 7 days out of 7 working out this week. This session figures to be rather smoky, on account of the large hunk of pig I just put in the kettle.
