Isn't there a thread for starting lineup and/or minute speculation for next year's team?
I know there's a reason many of us choose to ignore such threads.
“Those two kids, they’re champions,” Krzyzewski said of his senior leaders. “They’re trying to teach the other kids how to become that, and it’s a long road to become that.”
Trouble proposed a fun friendly pie bet. You know me, I'm probably in!
It was proposed that finishing top 3 ACC regular season is too generous and #1 would maybe be a fish bet after losing Jerome and Hunter. I agree with that.
How about this?
UVA finishes as one of the top 2 seeds in the ACC Tournament bracket (based on regular season performance, so before ACC Tourney play starts), I win the pie.
UVA finishes worse than the top 2 seeds in the ACC Tournament, you win the pie.
This all assumes Jerome and Hunter go pro, but Guy and Diakite return.
IF Guy goes pro, Diakite goes pro, or UVA has some weird unexpected big transfer (like Marquette just had) then the bet is cancelled.
Bet is only for Trouble (or one taker if he doesn't want it).
I don't mind betting on Tony Bennett at this point.
Wanna play?

Ha, sure, Richard. I think my edge is really small on this one (if it exists at all) -- maybe 55% to 45% -- but since I'm an action junkie, let's do it!
I think Duke will finish ahead, and then I need one from the field of ACC teams to finish ahead of UVA.
**shakes on it**
Oh goodness, Guy declared for the draft today. I didn't realize he was really considering that. I've heard about Hunter and Jerome all season. I guess Guy figured he just won a natty and is fine with being a 2nd round pick.
As I said in my original disclaimer, if Guy (or Diakite) goes pro, the bet is cancelled.
So no bet, let's cancel this for now, ok.
Losing Guy, Jerome, and Hunter is too much even for Tony Bennett with the recruits they have coming in. Guy left it open to possibly return, but he really sounded like he's gone. If he returns to UVA, I'll def honor this bet as I said.
Losing those 3 players, I think Trouble is absolutely right. UVA is going to have a Villanova type post Natty hangover next year. They probably counted on losing maybe 2 players early, but are losing more than they expected post natty. It's now unlikely they'll finish in Top 2 of ACC next year. I still like Clark, Key, Diakite, and Huff, but not top 2 ACC.
Duke, Louisville, and probably UNCheat should be better. FSU should be better, especially if Kabengele returns. Syracuse is possibly better than UVA. NC State could beat them. Shoot even Wake Forest could be decent next year, especially with Hoard back.
Hello offseason and Way too early predictions.
I'm a degenerate pie bettor though, we'll get something else good going - you know me!

Sounds good, Richard. I expected Guy to return as well.
Bummer though, it would have been a fun bet. I'll still do it if Guy returns to UVA along with Diakite, Clark, Key, and Huff. But I think he's probably gone with "both feet in" the draft waters.
But I'm fine with Guy leaving. It helps Duke. It would be nice to win the ACC regular season for a change. We should have a good shot at it.
KD is definitely done for the rest of the Houston series.
Sucks for our pie bets Trouble.
I think this amplifies the loss of Boogie Cousins. The Warriors just don't have many big scorers left beyond Steph and Klay who are both inconsistent. I think they're screwed, but we'll see.
Thems the breaks

For posterity's sake and an effort to keep all results in one thread, Steven43 lost a pie bet to me. He took the Rockets to go at least 7 games (possibly winning) against the Warriors. I took the Warriors to win in 6 games or fewer. Tonight, the series ended in 6 with the Warriors winning.
Congrats! What an incredible performance by the Warriors, Klay, and Steph. And Kerr gave a huge, earnest, deserved shout-out to the Warriors' bench in the presser, specifically giving props to Quinn Cook's outstanding play after not playing at all previously in the series.
This one hurts for the Rockets.
Enjoy that pie!
Fortunately for RichardJackson and I, all should be well w/you and your kids.
Well, after some delays on my part, and Grand Traverse Pie Company's part, LHL fulfilled his pie obligation and it arrived yesterday. Cherry Crumb - and for those of you planning on winning pies in the future, I'd recommend this choice. Quite tasty. Thanks, Left Hook.

Kudos to UrinalCake for paying up with delicious Dutch apple. The pie tasted all the sweeter knowing that it was won by a Tar Heel leaving school.
