Don't vote on Shape Of Water. It just dried up. (Even if not true, Hollywood is very jumpy about allegations these days.)

Q "Why do you like Duke, you didn't even go there." A "Because my art school didn't have a basketball team."
I really liked Three Billboards and think it would be a deserving winner.
Of the others that I've seen, I would rank
Dunkirk
Phantom Thread
Darkest Hour
Shape of Water
The Post
Naaah, plagiarism doesn't move the needle here. Hollywood is jumpy about sexual harassment, but kinda sorta maybe copying a play that was performed 50 years ago (Del Toro was 5 when the play came out) just isn't going to spook voters very much. Maybe it hurts Del Toro in the Original Screenplay category, but I don't see it having much impact on best picture.
Also, for what it is worth, even though Shape had far and away the most nominations, I don't think it is the front-runner for best picture. It did not win the Best Picture Globe and did not win at the SAG awards (heck, it didn't even get a Best Cast nomination at the SAGs). Actors make up the largest block of voters for Best Picture and Shape didn't do so well at the SAGs. Where Shape has done well is in critic awards, but not so much in the Guilds.

Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?
Saw Call Me By Your Name last night and felt like it was four hours long. It was a looooooong movie.
One of those where you wanted to stand up and yell, "Move it along already!"
Still, my Florida Project is the most innovative and moving film that I've seen this season.
Phantom Thread awaits this week.
Nothing incites bodily violence quicker than a Duke fan turning in your direction and saying 'scoreboard.'
Caught Three Billboards and Shape of Water over the weekend.
Three Billbaords was great. Makes my top 10 for the year.
Shape of Water was...something. I can appreciate that it was well made, but I did not find that remotely enjoyable. It was such a strange film.
Has anybody listened to the soundtrack for Baby Driver?
It's fantastic.
