Born on the same day Galileo died, 300 years earlier.

Died on the same day Einstein was born, 139 years earlier.

Not scientifically significant, but still kind of interesting.

My son’s immediate response was that Sheldon Cooper would be very sad.

That's a bit morbid, even for a death thread.

So did I and then I followed that thought with how will they handle the death on the show.

Brings to mind John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both passing away on July 4, 1826, 50 years to the day from signing of the Declaration of Independence,

Was the DoI signed on July 4? Adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, certainly. But signed?

Yeah, fair point. Not sure of the actual signing date, but I believe it was technically passed (with no dissenting votes) on July 2. The version at the National Archives was definitely signed later, but was also not the original, though I believe it is considered the "official one".

In any event, deaths 50 years to the day from adoption for two of the key Founding Fathers (many would argue the two most important) still strikes me as a remarkable coincidence.

John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were both adopted? Huh, you learn something new every day!

That's why they were known as Foundling Fathers.

Read 2 bios of Jefferson and don't recall that he was adopted. He was the 3rd of ten children. What evidence says he was adopted?

If you're serious, start reading carefully at post #12 again. If not, carry on!

Sorry. Senior moment Interesting that the prolific correspondence between Adams and Jefferson is likely the greatest in American Letters.
