My AstraZeneca stock has taken a hit as they pause their vaccine studies...

Here's hoping for the longer term win.

Start investing part of every paycheck when you begin your career, and over time those little chunks will grow to a sizeable wad.

(not put that way, of course, but that's it in a nutshell).

    Put another way; A = P(1+r/100)^n and it’s variations.

I’ve come to understand capitalizing on that simple formula isn’t a possibility for many for different reasons but have also come to understand that too many don’t capitalize on it that should — or rob it of its power for non-essential purchases.

Would you rather carry a ping pong ball around with you everyday from age 18 on - or carry a bowling ball around with you everyday from age 50 on?

Sorry - meant to quote the original question. Not that there's any shortage of wisdom in OPK's response.

Life is like a roll of toilet paper -- it gets going much quicker as you get towards the end.

True but it doesn’t change how much sh*t you’re in to begin with.

I agree with the posts about starting to put away money early - from day one, make sure that you are at least contributing enough to a 401k to receive the full match that your company is offering.

Make sure that you are on the same page with your spouse about financial priorities before you get married. Make sure that you can have open conversations about the topic and can agree on priorities, as well as a mechanism to settle disputes if they arise in the future. The person making the money when you get married might not be the person making the money later, and kids complicate things a lot.

I wonder if and how money talk within families is changing generationally. I know of MANY cases decades ago where wives did not know how much money their husbands were making (this back in the day when far fewer women worked).
You bring up a very good point, money issues really need to be clarified...

    Back when rates were meaningful:

“Thems that understands interest receives it, thems that don’t pays it.”
"Amazing what a minute can do."
