Three honored Duke defenders, two on first team, should be back next year. Pretty sweet start. Also interesting is the near-wasteland that is UNC returning players on the list.

Well deserved to all. Nice to bring back 2 1st Team All-Acc Defenders next season.
Just to be clear -- four Duke defenders were honored: LB Joe Giles-Harris and CB Mark Gilbert first team, DT Mike Ramsey and S Jeremy McDuffie on third team. As noted, three will be back next year (all except Ramsey). The only offensive player honored was third team center Austin Davis, a senior.
Senior RB Shaun Wilson and junior WR T.J. Rahming were both honorable mention.
I remember McDuffie took a lot of abuse as a true FR when he was thrown in against UNC due to injuries. He is a great example that you never give up on a kid. His success in the offseason with Duke Track & Field gave him a lot of confidence, and the switch to S unlocked a heck of a player. I am hoping that his injury will not impact him next season.
Congratulations to all the honored Blue Devils! Their recognition is well deserved.
The defense returns eight starters. The three seniors are: DT Mike Ramsay, CB Bryon Fields and S Alonzo Saxton. The offense returns seven starters. The four seniors are: RB Shaun Wilson, C Austin Davis, OT Gabe Brandner and OT Evan Lisle.
Returning 15 of 22 starters is the dividend from having a young team this year.

Interesting how did Ben Humphries not make it or even get honorable mention? Before he got her wasn't he right there with Joe Giles Harris in tackles and all?
Wow! Does this mean the ACC coaches and selected writers actually noticed that Duke's defense was really good this year?
In scoring defense, Duke was #26 (20.8 PPG); in scoring offense, Duke was #84 (25.8 PPG).

'When I got on the bus for my first road game at Duke, I saw that every player was carrying textbooks or laptops. I coached in the SEC for 25 years, and I had never seen that before, not even once.' - David Cutcliffe to Duke alumni in Washington, DC, June 2013
Duke was #29 in DSRS: https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb...7-ratings.html
ACC schools ahead: #5 CU, #6 VT, #14 Mia, #21 BC, #25 FSU
By way of comparison, we were #50 in 2016 and #64 in 2015. Thank goodness for the D this year.
Congrats to all our guys, honored or not! LGD GTHc!
