Bacot to the holes...
Bacot to the Holes could mean a lot of things. Could mean that Duke expects to get one or both of its big man targets for 2019. Could mean that Duke told Bacot that they weren't sure there would be playing time with Javin DeLaurier and Marques Bolden as seniors on the team next season. It could mean that Bacot just felt like going to class wasn't worth his time. Who knows?
I have a feeling that Duke is going to be just fine. For those wondering, a lot of the top targets are scheduled for their official visits this fall.
Wendell Moore: 9/22
Bryan Antoine: 9/29
Josiah James: "Late September" (either with Moore or Antoine)
Vernon Carey, Jr.: 10/19
Isaiah Stewart also is scheduled to take an official visit to Duke this fall, although the date is not yet confirmed.
This seems gratuitous. And almost certainly untrue. Unless you know something the rest of us don't.
Duke probably could have gotten a commitment from Bacot six months ago. But Duke made it clear that they preferred Stewart and Carey, although they tried to get back in with Bacot in recent weeks.
Carolina always prioritized Bacot more then Duke did and he went with the program that showed him the most love.
If we tried to get back in touch with Bacot recently, does that suggest things may have changed with Carey and/or Stewart?
Yes, definitely meant this to be about UNC and not about Bacot. I hold no grudge against the young man just because he chose to go elsewhere, even there. My point of view has long been that a young woman or man recruited by Duke must have a lot of great qualities to attract the attention of the coaching staff. Heck, I still root for former transfers to succeed at their new schools or in the NBA.
Mannion sets official visits to Arizona, Villanova, and Marquette. Duke not scheduled.
Scottie Barnes and Cole Anthony both taking un-officials at Miami today.
VerbalCommits website(seems reliable)lists 8 current offers for Scottie Barnes, but Duke isn't one of them.

Scottie Barnes is a 2020 recruit. He is heavy Miami, Fla lean. He has approx 20 offers but no Duke offer as yet. It is easy to mix up Barnes with Scottie Lewis. Lewis is a wing player from New Jersey and a teammate of Bryan Antoine who is being recruited by Duke. Both have offers.
Maybe we offered him a scholarship, but Scotty doesn't know...
Scottie is waiting to see who else is going to beam up.
