He is a replacement for Pags. He's a practice player. I don't think there is anything to worry about with Duval. Frank... maybe, but even then, this recruitment is not indicative of what is on the horizon for Frank with Duke. He's a semi-athletic guard who can help with practice and maybe get some spot minutes.

Welcome Jordan! Great move to add a 4-year guy for practice, roster stability and cohesion. It will be helpful to have a PG around who knows the system to help the 5* guys assimilate. This seems like a good answer to the OAD and transfer dilemma. I would love to see Jordan work his way into the rotation as a glue guy by his junior ir senior year.

Always spots for a defensive-minded pg who can distribute the ball.

And we all know, K likes to play guys who can defend.

Perhaps an occasional start for a few minutes to send a message to a putative starter about the importance of effort on the defensive end (in games and practice)?

Welcome to Duke, Jordan! Since '77-'78(Jim Suddath, a 3 point specialist before the 3 point line), there have only been a few other Georgians to suit up for Duke: William Avery(Augusta native, played at Oak Hill), Mark Causey from Gainesville(on the team in '02), and the great Patrick Davidson from Grady High School in ATL. Now we have 3 in this year's class alone, hopefully showing that Georgia is now "more than a football state." The old joke was that "there were only two sports in Georgia, football and spring football."

Patrick Davidson was from Arkansas and finished his prep career at Blair Academy (NJ). Not an ATL product. Patrick Johnson was the Grady High grad.

Maybe by his junior year, a Tyler Thornton : a team player, a PG that plays good defense, plays hard on every possession and Coach K will love him= minutes. GoDuke!

I have mixed feelings about seeing a Blue Devil logo on a Jordan wearing #23. Fortunately, the Duke coaching staff has to assign him a different number.

I trust Coach K, the best-ever ACC coach. He found a way to keep Jordan Davidson under 20 points per game.

    Both of these.

Even a few minutes rest to a starter, or playing in spots when there is foul trouble, is helpful. TT and Matt are two examples that come to mind of defense-first players that developed into significant minutes. Tommy Amaker and Billy King also come to mind, although perhaps those were different days.

Time was, on-point defense was the key to our M2M defense. If the other side cannot initiate the offense, you're always in good position. Harass the point, overplay the passing lane to the outlets, and next thing you know you're getting a lay-up on the other end of the floor.

    I miss that, frankly.

Welcome Jordan. By showing a little patience and taking a risk, I think things worked out very well for him. I hate to compare a Duke guy to a Tar Heel, but perhaps Stillman White is a good example (minus the Mormon mission). he was recruited as a role player and ended up playing a key role for them in 2012 (pre-Mission) when Kendall Marshall was injured.

Thanks for coming to Duke, Jordan!
Whatever role you play, it will be for one of the greatest programs of all time.
The opportunities you will have at Duke - on and off the court - are unlimited.
You made a wise choice and we'll be behind you all the way.
    GO DUKE!

Welcome to Duke! Sounds like a great opportunity for a confident young man. Excited to see you in Duke blue.
    Let's go Duke!

Welcome, Jordan! Best of luck at Duke.

Couldn't remember Causey's name, but immediately thought of him when Goldwire surfaced yesterday.

Causey's an orthodontist now. What were the circumstances surrounding his recruitment and his brief stay at Duke?

I'm thinking of our man Billy "Sky" King playing maybe the best on the ball defense of any former Dukie. Thinking about that kind of defense get's me excited. GoDuke!

This is the best I could find on Mark. I had forgotten that his brother Matt was a contributor for GaTech in '07-'08. All three of the Causey boys were ballers, and all 3 transferred(one played at TCU and Harvard, and one at Georgetown/North GA College(now Univ. of N. Georgia)/GaTech.

Would that be Mountain City, TN? Great golf course there now called Red Tail Mountain. It used to be called Roane Valley. GoDuke!
