I needed some good news this week, and this provided it.
So are they implying that the Lannister Queen is going to be siding with the white walkers or somehow controlling them? Sure seemed that way.
New season deserves a new thread.
And what better way to start it than the first promo for the upcoming season 7.

Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

Demented and sad, but social, right?
I could see Cersei doing something with the White Walkers... it doesn't necessarily have to be a formal alliance, she can just find some way to open a gap in the wall or something to let them flood in. I think Littlefinger, as the true main villain of the series, is more likely to do something involving the Walkers though.
The more interesting part of the trailer is that it arguably teased toward what I've always thought would be the final central conflict of the show, which is Jon vs. Dany.
It's winter. Breath fogs in winter. The point was that winter is reaching King's Landing and beyond in earnest, not just the North.
Why does it seem everyone has an impulse to make things more complicated and dramatic than they are?
Some observations:
1. Daenerys appears to be on Dragonstone. This is where she was born and also where her ancestor Aegon I launched his invasion of Westeros.
2. Daenerys is now wearing the black and red of House Targaryen. The design is very similar to what her brother Viserys wore in Season 1:
3. Cersei's breath is a visual signal that the Others are approaching (as it always gets very cold when they are near, coupled with the next shot of what appears to be the Night King's eye).
4. The right side of the blue eye reflects a subtle image of the Wall, suggesting that the Night King is standing right in front of it and staring up at it:

Winter is here.
The official Season 7 poster:
I have started rewatching from season one.
Frankly, I am embarrassed as to how much I have forgotten. Time well spent.
