The defensive job that Matt did was the difference IMO. Although I could have gone with Amile for yet another time. But a really good effort by everyone.

Driving home last night, thinking about this poll, my first thought was Amile, then Matt and then Jackson, but Grayson's second half won the night for him. And us!

While Matt forgot to put his contacts in last night, it didn't hurt him on the defensive end. Matt's defense was awesome last night. He gets my nod, but pretty much everyone was really good.

Same # of air balls as points, short shorts, a bunch of boneheaded fouls, and pretty good defense on the big freshman.

    Give me Matt Jones!!!!

pleasant surprises thus far are (among other things) the development of Canard (i like food) and the flashes we are seeing from Jackson.
Both (to me anyway) better than I had anticipated for this point in the season.

    Team Win

It's a team game and a very solid team win.
It's clear how highly I think of Grayson,
his second half really sealed the deal.

I gave the edge tonight to Amile,
    on shooting percentage,
    assists for a big man,
rebounds(13), that gave us the extra possesions
to do what we do best, score efficiently.
    Let's go DUKE !!!

    Allen

Agreed that this was a team win. I think Amile, Jackson, Jones, Kennard, or Allen all warranted credit for this.

But I went with Allen, because his tenacity in the second half and timely assists was the difference.

    Count Me In For Matt

This was a team win, Everybody contributed. Fatigue and injury were issues. Tough not to give it to Grayson (24 points) or Amile (another double double) or Luke (20).

But Matt absolutely shut down Bridges. And when Tum Tum started off strong, who shut him down before going back on Bridges.

Talked to an MSU alum today who said that Matt showed Bridges "how young he is."

The air balls aside, we don't win without Matt's leadership (we don't win if any of our 6 don't bring it)

Tough one. So many good choices.

    I voted for Amile.

Matt was my second choice, then Grayson, then Jackson, then Kennard. Truly a team effort.

I always like it when we have multiple choices for MOTM. Usually that we play better as a team and don't have to depend on just one or two players to carry us. As you said, this is was a team win. GoDuke!

    Grayson Allen, Man of Steel

Grayson is OBVIOUSLY hurting and not nearly 100%. I'm going beyond concern and starting to wonder if he's actually risking long-term damage by continuing to play in this condition. But, as we are always conditioned to believe, the staff knows better than we do. I sure hope so.

I have several friends who were convinced that Grayson would go pro last year. I told them, over and over again, that the NBA has never seemed like Grayson's ultimate goal to me. He's playing for number 3 hanging in the rafters. Immortality beats money. He's a different cat from your typical lottery-pick players of today. He's a throwback, in the very best sense of the word.

So when I see him hobbling around out there, draining threes, blocking shots, going for steals and generally risking injury on every possession with his heroic style of play, you better BELIEVE he's getting my MOTM vote. Every freaking time.

If Singler was iron, Grayson is something from another world. My favorite Duke player of all-time.

Slo, great post, we are in violent agreement on most points.
As soon as I'm done with this, I'm sporking you if the spork gods allow.

I'm with you, I luv the kid, hell I love this team without the freshmen!
With the freshmen, then for me, it's a whole other thing entirely.

    The WOW factor.

I get that you could always vote for GA me too, we could make a case
in this game for a few guys that deserve it,
thats the nature if Duke basketball, isn't it?

But, in this instance, in fairness to the poll,
If you pull up the box score and don't overweigh point production,
Amile played a great game 7 for 12 from the field 58%,
13 boards, 3 assists, certainly it could be shades of difference..
    but Amile was solid.

Here is GA's Amile's appreciation post on instagram/twitter if the link works..

We are all concerned about the toe,
But we know this for fact, think Kyrie,
think 3 lottery picks on the bench,
if there were any chance K is being advised not to play him,
There would be 4 lottery picks on the bench.

No matter game or season outcome!
    Let's go DUKE !!!

I feel you, Blu. What I meant was that, if the vote is CLOSE and all other things being equal, Grayson will get my vote. In a game where he obviously doesn't deserve MOTM consideration, I will vote on merit alone.

But if it's a tie, I'm going with Grayson. The kid can't even practice. Tyus had stones , Grayson has heart.
