I really love "A Quick One While He's Away." And I loved its use in the movie Rushmore - perfection!

    Here's the link, worth a watch: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sL-kvgOGmzc

Which leads into another topic, best use of a song in a movie.

On an album, you don't put your best work up front. You get them in the door with a very good piece, a promise of great things to come. You knock'em back with a hard shot in the middle(Born to Run) and finish them off at the end with the knockout blow(Jungleland). Quite simple really.
I could listen to Growin Up pretty much nonstop forever.

Sometimes, it's not the best/greatest/loudest/longest song you've ever heard. Sometimes, it's the one that reaches into your heart and soul and describes your life/inner being with its 3-5 minutes on the CD.

Hard to argue with this choice -- regardless of your age.

You either need a really good turntable, amp/pre-amp and speakers or you need an upgrade.

Just not a Springsteen fan. Other than Nebraska, which is genius.

It is. #86 on Rolling Stone's list so there ya go. Behind probably 20-25 others that could be easily classified as soul, R&B, folk or pop and not rock.

Appreciated, but too dark for me. Along with Tom Joad, two of my least favorite Springsteen works.

Those are the only two I like. But more to do with the stripped-down acoustic sound than anything.

For What It's Worth (Buffalo Springfield (Stills)) : written in the 60's about the 60's, but gaining significance again in the days we're living

    Don't forget Neil Young.

Certainly hope Neil Young doesn't need to write another "Ohio" any time soon.

Same here. Don'tcare that much for Anthems. Favorite E St Band record is Tunnel of Love. I guess I like it dark. Ghost of Tom Joad is an absolute masterpiece IMO. Last verse of Highway 29 is tragic genius.

"The road was filled with broken glass and gasoline
She wasn't sayin' nothin'', it was just a dream
The wind come silent through the windshield
All I could see was snow and sky and pines
I closed my eyes and I was runnin',
I was runnin' then I was flyin'"
