Favorite All Time Great Rock Songs

There are many great rock songs, some are considered anthems. Hey Jude, Stairway To Heaven, Free Bird, etc. But sometimes some really great music falls through the cracks and is never mentioned among the greats. "The March of The Black Queen " by Queen I would put on my list..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoBMhx_ap_g

An older one that I love: Run, Run, Run by Jo Jo Gunne. Also, Frankenstein by the Edgar Winter Group.

I determined long ago that if I ever became a DJ, the first song I would play is Brand New Cadillac by The Clash. At a very loud level.

+1 on Puppets. I love old school Metallica. The Four Horseman is a lesser known but epic song in my opinion. That and Creeping Death.

I'll add Beast of Burden and Sympathy for the devil from the Stones

And Fortunate Son by CCR. Basically any CCR is fine with me

In line with the times, "Taxman" from the Beatles "Revolver" album.

Devil with a Blue Dress On - I figured that would be popular with this crowd.

And I'm guessing today is a bad day to vote for Dust in the Wind...

    Nice.

You'll appreciate this. There's a little band from Austin, TX called ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead. They were more well known in the early 2000's after releasing an album called Source Tags & Codes (their best, IMO). They've released many albums since then and continue to tour today, although they don't draw the crowds or mainstream attention that they used to.

Anyway, they've always been known in indie circles for their intense live shows, and one of their staples, which they usually close with, is a very punk song called "A Perfect Teenhood." What's so great about it live is that they slow the song down in the middle and their lead singer, Conrad, sing-talks the lyrics from Gloria. When he screams, "My sins are my own and they belong to me!" it's one of the most rock and roll things I've seen. Very cool.

My wife and I saw them once at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC around 2003 (I think), and they pulled people up on stage when they did that song at the end. We were in the front and got pulled up. Everyone was singing the lyrics to Gloria on stage with the band and then bedlam just ensued with guitars smashing and drums flying. It was crazy.

One of those cherished memories from an earlier life - before kids and a huge mortgage -- haha!
