I've attended a several Delaware 87ers games (free tickets from a buddy), and every time we leave thinking the same thing, "This is weird."

One game, some guy named Xavier Mumford dropped over 30-points and another night, somebody else, (Shawn Long anyone? Bueller?) dropped 45! Defense is a polite suggestion in the D-league, at least the games I've attended. I'm not sure what anyone can take from those track meets, but I'm not a coach.

The whole thing is the basketball version of Dante's purgatory.

Seven blocks? Defense in the D-League? He will shortly be banned if it recurs.

Munford did get bought out and signed by Barcelona this week so maybe he's secretly Lionel Messi. He is also a guard who got a brief chance to make an impression on the NBA last season. Hopefully Quinn gets one of those soon.

Watching Ryan playing in the D League is good fun. He seems to be playing at a different speed than everyone else, but his variety of fakes, spins, and other crafty moves seem to lead to him putting up enormous numbers everytime he plays there. It was good work by the Celtics and Red Claws to get him there essentially stealing a free lottery pick in the draft.

I know there has been talk of the AAU-level defense in the D-League, but, with the caveat that this is a highlight video just as much as high school prospect mixtapes are, Marshall looked good! Drive and slam from the 3 pt line, plus a 22 footer and an 18 footer. He is putting in work and building a respectable skill set that extends beyond screen and rebound - keep it up, MP3!
