By reputation, he is a class act, and will have a place in basketball for a long time.

I met him only once -- waiting for the 2001 team to return to the hotel after beating Arizona for the National Championship. This huge figure moved in front of us in a poorly lit back entry, one of many greeting the champions. I said quietly to Ms. Grouse, "That's Elton Brand." He heard me, turned around with a big smile on his face, shook our hands, and chatted for a moment or so. Class act, I'd agree.
