With seasons well underway around the world, it is time to take a look at some of the players who started their careers at Duke before moving on to other schools. While they are not covered here regularly, their seasons are updated occasionally.

Jamal Boykin returned to Japan for another season, this time joining the Shinsu Brave Warriors. The two league system that the country had previously used merged over the offseason and his new team is in the second division. His stats can be found here (he is number 54):

Eric Boateng did not have a team to start the season, but he ended up returning to the same team he played for last season. After helping Blois win promotion from the third division to the second division in France, he has come back to try to keep them in the division. His stats can be found here:

I feel like we have covered this elsewhere... but what is Carlos doing in China? I guess he really loves playing hoops that much, huh? Please tell me he has not blown his $140+ mil in NBA earnings (plus, he should have a generous pension awaiting him at some point after playing in the league for 13 years.
Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

I believe the Chinese season ends earlier than most so I would guess the motivation for playing there is to impress an NBA team and hope to earn an end of bench spot for an NBA playoff run.

I am pretty sure it was not a money thing because he basically turned down the same offers a year ago. It seems like he was not happy with how his NBA career ended and wanted a chance to go out on his own terms after not getting the kind of deals that he wanted last season. Trying to be as objective as possible, he has been just okay so far in China, although he seems to be more solid now so it may have just taken a few games to shake off the rust. If nothing else, he is getting a cool cultural experience, which he seems to be enjoying on its own merits if his social media is any indication.

It looks like we have 20 NBA players, 2 D League players, and 6 overseas guys so that's 26 on the men's side. As far as I know, there are no out of contract players who are trying to play somewhere.

On the women's side, we had 10 WNBA players. We have 5 players who have been playing only overseas. There may be a couple more players added to that list in the near future.
