Of course not, but it troubles me to see that Tyler’s in Durham will close 4/19.

Assuming the original Carrboro location stays open for some time, that is quite a wave of expansion and contraction.
From Carrboro to Durham to Apex to Raleigh, and closing in reverse order.

    The end of an era.
That's pretty amazing. I'll guess all the new breweries opening in the last 5 years led to Tyler's demise in Apex, Raleigh and Durham.

    Three for me.

    I'm still not worthy.

Sure seems like an April Fools joke.
I tried a PBR Pale Ale? Or IPA? (looks it up) apparently "American Pale Ale."

It was forgettable. It was a few months ago. PBR should stay in their lane. They fall into a perfectly respectable category I call "lawnmowing beer."

Bourbon Barrel-Aged Edinbrue (several ink smudges on bottom of can)-Brueprint Brewing Company

Pint can (~$4) bought in mid-February as part of the 30 beers for 30 years gift for our younger daughter and trading package with our son with this one reserved for me. .

It's a Scotch (style) ale that has slept in bourbon barrels for months and months.

Two equal aliquots of 8 ounces each over an hour from a standard pint glass. Mildly murky, dark amber without sediment. Wow, this is boozy along with caramel and a bit of smoke wafting from the glass. Tasting confirms this is quite boozy, along with some herbal/earthy hops, some peat, dark caramel, vanilla, oak/wood and toasted coconut. Rather warming at 9% ABV (I'd have thought 11% or more) and very mild on the palate at 19 IBUs. Maybe serve this with a steak or beef brisket? Maybe make it dessert? I like Catawba's BBA Hooligan better but this was quite good.

I'd buy this again (and again) but may sample the Thirsty Dog BBA Wulver tonight as a comparison as the owner of the bottle shop at which I bought this said one of his distributors thought this one was even better than the Brueprint product.

Maybe you can visit this brewery and have Dinner on the same trip.

I've never heard of this brewery. But, then again, there are thousands of breweries with which I'm not familiar.

    Once again, I'm not worthy.

It’s a bar in downtown Portland that is somewhat known for good craft beer selection.

Or, IOW, a beer (or two) a day keep(s) the doctor away? Perish the thought!

Where'd that fitness thread go when you need it?

Hopslam was $3/12 ounce can ($18/6 pack) for 10% ABV.

DFH 90 Minute IIPA is about $2.50/12 ounce bottle at 9% ABV.

DFH 60 Minute IPA is about $2/12 ounce bottle for 6% ABV.

What are your preferences/thoughts? Name any IPA/IIPA you'd like (Stone, Firestone Walker, Scream, etc) and why you'd choose that instead of Hopslam.

They have the Allagash Crueux at total wine here, 4-pack $17.99. Also picked up an Ommegang smoked vanilla porter BBA. Reviews to follow.

From the Molson Coors Brewing Company 10-K for the fiscal year ending 12/31/2018:

    Industry Overview

The brewing industry has significantly evolved over the years, becoming an increasingly global beer market. The industry was previously founded on local presence with modest international expansion achieved through export, license and partnership. More recently, it has become increasingly complex, as the consolidation of brewers has occurred globally,
resulting in fewer major global market participants. In addition to the acquisitive element of this industry consolidation, the market continues to utilize export, license and partnership arrangements; however, these are often with the same global competitors that make up the majority of the market. This industry consolidation has resulted in a small number of large global brewers representing the majority of the worldwide beer market. At the same time, smaller local brewers within certain established markets are experiencing accelerated growth as consumers increasingly place value on locally-produced, regionally sourced products. As the beer industry continues its evolution of consolidation and diversification of its products to meet consumer demand with broadening preferences, large global brewers are uniquely positioned to leverage the scale, depth of product portfolio and industry knowledge to continue to lead the market forward.

    Global Competitors' Market Capitalization

We evaluate ourselves in relation to other global brewers using various metrics, including overall market capitalization, volume, net sales revenue, gross margins and net profits, as well as our position within each of our core markets, with the goal to be the first choice for our consumers and customers. To provide a perspective of the relative size of the major participants in
the global brewing market, the market capitalizations of our primary global competitors, based on foreign exchange rates as of December 31, 2018, were as follows:

    Market Capitalization
    (In billions)

    Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV $ 133.6
    Heineken N.V. ("Heineken") $ 51.0
Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. ("Asahi") $ 18.8
    Carlsberg Group ("Carlsberg") $ 16.1
    MCBC $ 12.2

Two that immediately come to mind are Lynwood Mosaic and Founder’s Mosaic Promise.
No specs or cost, guessing would be comparable to DFH 90 min on cost.

I was sorely disappointed the last time I tried Hopslam. I don’t blame the beer, it was astoundingly good when it was introduced. My palate and the industry have moved on to better beer.

Mattman, a little encouragement for you.
Yesterday I crossed 100 days (all of 2019 to date) without an alcoholic beverage.

    This was by choice.
I had debated going all of 2019 as an experiment.
With a milestone anniversary in June, I knew I would not make the whole year.

As I say goodbye to some colleagues at work today, 100 days feels like a good achievement. Bond Brothers will get the “honour” of my first beer this year today.
(And it was close as I had dinner with friends at Southern Peak last night.)
