Some impressive language on the can about this beer was brewed once, never again.

    7% Gose?

    Decent head, not long lasting.
A bit of a chunky pour.

In the right light you can convince yourself there is a slight pink hue to the beer.

Smells a little rummy, a little briney.

Tastes a bit like salted grapefruit soda with a splash of white rum.

Calling this beer strange is an oversimplification.

Its an easy sipper, while at the same time not a beer I think you’d drink more than one in a single session.

Another remarkable palate stretcher via the ever esteemed devildeac.

I’m really grateful to have tried this beer, and now I need to google what the prior 23 unique beers were. A new brewery to me, and one I would certainly try more.

Boundary pushing beer is polarizing. It’s also what keeps the craft beer industry interesting and growing.

    A couple of fun links:

    Thanks devildeac!
    You are most welcome.

I also found our's son's selection from August to be very interesting with Goo Goo Muck, the tart IPA, the one you just reviewed and several others you've yet to try. I suspect none will fit your "best" category but they were certainly interesting style variations.

Our son also showed me an ad for a taproom/brewery opening several blocks from their house called Somewhere in Particular and it appears the folks who brewed Batch 24 now have their own home and will not be brewing with Rivertown Brewing Company any more. More later.

Perhaps blasphemy, as much as I find Staghorn to be an excellent, excellent beer, I would choose Clawhammer.

No complaints as it is a great beer and enjoyable to drink.

    Cheers!

Time to start reviewing some fuse traders.

Sorry, AW, yours will have to wait until next week.

Lemon Cucumber Gose (stamped on bottom of can: 7/17/18)-Westbrook Brewing Company

    Regional beer!

Poured somewhat aggressively into a standard pint glass with the results of a cloudy appearance and a smallish, foamy head that lingered for several minutes. Unmistakable aromas of ReaLemon juice. Moderate pucker factor and salinity with a faint vegetable flavor (but no pickling spices!) that I probably wouldn't have guessed/perceived without the obvious name of the beer. I'll guess IBUs around 5-10 with the standard low ABV of 4%. Better beer for a warm summer evening but pretty tasty and thirst-quenching on this cool fall night, too. I like their Key Lime Pie Gose better but this is a high quality, distinctive effort.

I may google Dinkel Acker after this, the only beer the might come to mind that was a prior Dinkel experience (5L mini keg?).

    Thick head, quick dissipation.

    Super lemony nose.

A lemon pils or perhaps a lager expression of some fruity hops- I am not familiar with Loral or Cashmere.

Labeled as a collaboration with Resident Culture.

A truly delightful, eminently drinkable beer that would make an outstanding summer house beer.

    Cheers!

The can art is pretty spectacular!

A generous sample from the owner of Falls Village Wine and Beer, the new bottle shop about 1.5 miles from our house.

Generous head, that slowly disappeared. Perhaps a bit less lemon to my olfactory receptors and gustatory sensors and a bit more floral with a very light sweetness and minimal bitterness. IBUs not listed so I'll guess 20. ABV was 5%. I'm not familiar with Loral and Cashmere hops either and neither was the owner. Quite the pleasant and easily quaffable, delicate pilsner one would expect for the style, just as fuse described above.
    From tonight:

The Inevitability of Change (best I could decipher from smudged stamp on bottom of aluminum pint vessel: Canned on 06/27/18)-Casita Cerveceria

"Brewed and canned for Casita Cerveceria by Duck-Rabbit Craft Brewery"

    More local!

Very interesting reading fuse's tasting thoughts from his 16 ounce can and my draft musings as I'm sipping the last few ounces of my trader can tonight and my impressions are closer to fuse's packaged version than my draft version, especially WRT the lemony nose and palate. I still taste some fresh flowers and will up my IBU estimate to 30-35 range as there's a mild but distinct hop bitterness here along with the citrusy flavors. I hope this brewery survives as he/they really brew wonderful beers.

Many thanks to fuse for including this during our trading session last week.

    Freedom of Speach

I have been waiting on receiving this with a lot of anticipation based on online reputation.

Pours super light, clear and fizzy.

    No head.

Smells like a funky moldy peach. Not sure if that is a good thing or not.
Musty and sweet. Maybe a bit of dirty diaper.

This would have been a great beer to A/B taste with Festina Peche.

By memory, where Festina Peche is a bit sharp, Freedom of Speach is a bit softer.

The nose is offputting in a beyond a funky lambic kind of way.
The way the beer hits the palate more than makes up for it.

This is an all summer beer.

Would go great with mild cheeses, fruits and salads.
Also stands just fine on its own.

    Devildeac- many thanks!

    Cheers all!

And I've been waiting to deliver it since purchasing in Chicago in early September. Happy it was palate-pleasing.

    Thirsty Dog
    Twelve Dogs of Christmas
    Christmas in July

Well, Christmas in October anyway 🤣

    Pours a nice amber colour.

Smells like a Christmas cookie- orange, cinnamon, sugar and what those of us who can’t otherwise name them would call Christmas spices as well as ginger snap.
(Given the beer name, well, duh?)

Definitely a honey sweetness and thick mouthfeel, and the finish coats the tongue with a pleasing layer of ginger.

A nice way to celebrate the basketball season exhibition opener.

    An excellent beer- thanks devildeac!

You're welcome. I was hoping that one would still be fresh given its July bottling.

Couple overdue reviews from the Duke-UVa tailgate.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Up All Night-Triple C Brewing Company

    Drink regional!

Credit: Our part-time office nurse (N-'77) who exchanged it for the Jolly Pumpkin Fuego Del Otono she initially purchased.

Poured from a bomber and shared among 4 (or 5?) of us. Color was a dark, dark brown with a moderate, creamy tan head. I think the aromas were pretty equally balanced with coffee, dark chocolate (not added) and bourbon and the flavors were fairly equally distributed, too, along with some roastiness. Quite smooth and almost oily on the palate and, if you poured this for me blindly, I'd have readily thought this was an imperial stout. I'll guess IBUs around 40 and the ABV was 10% so it is aptly labeled a breakfast porter but imperial should be printed on the label, too. An outstanding selection and pairing with our breakfast feast.

The ruling at the table stands: Touchdown!

You may have missed a few breweries from whatever you called your Northwestern Notre Dame Footballpalooza beer tour.

And, the final act before the football game was...

Double Barrel GBS-Hardywood Park Craft Brewery

    Credit: accfanfrom1970

This was a capped 750 ml bottle and shared 4 ways. Pour was almost black with a foamy, mocha head that lingered and lingered. Seductive scents of dark, spiced rum, dark chocolate and bourbon. Smooth, silky palate-coating elixir with early tastes of molasses, dark chocolate-covered caramel, more dark rum, a bit of ginger heat, hints of vanilla with a warming, bourbon closing. It's an imperial milk stout so lactose is added along with the local ginger, vanilla and honey. IBUs are 55 and the ABV is 10.6% and was an excellent finisher after our breakfast feast and special dessert of TNTDevil's espresso fudge cups topped with a coffee bean. Ymm, Beer indeed. Very excited one of these still sits in my garage, err, beer "cellar" from a delivery in January from accfanfrom1970 AND that one is included in the 2018 GBS complete set that I ordered today.

    Many thanks for sharing!!

We also had meals/flights at Corridor Brewery & Provisions before a Cubs game, Founders after our walking tour of Grand Rapids and a brewery I can't recall in Madison after our walking tour there, too. I bought no beers "to go" from those 3 places so I didn't include those in our "shared" beer-a-palooza extravaganza.

Ok, not to overlook August West on the beer-trading front (Thanks!):

    Amber Ale-Duck Rabbit Craft Brewery

    Drink even closer regional!

Speaking of Farmville, NC breweries, this one waaaay preceded Casita Cerveceria by many years, but interestingly, the brewer at CC now apparently started learning his craft at Duck-Rabbit.

Pour from a 12 ounce bottle (wait, they still package beer in bottles ) into a standard pint glass was a clean/clear medium amber with a thin head. Toffee and herbal hops to start, followed by more toffee, earthy bitterness and some dark, toasted whole grain bread. I'll guess IBUs of 30 and ABV of 5.5%, neither are stated on the bottle or website so I'm WAG-ing here . Very good example for the style and certainly superior to the ubiquitous Fat Tire, which is still a good beer.
